Preseason game 1: Pack at Tenn
From the JS
WHEN: 7 p.m. Saturday.
WHERE: LP Field, Nashville.
BROADCAST: Radio — AM-620. Television — Channel 4.
INJURY REPORT: Packers — S Morgan Burnett (oblique), S Tanner Miller (ankle), RB TE Colt Lyerla (knee), WR Jared Abbrederis (knee) and OT Don Barclay (knee) are out. NT Letroy Guion (hamstring) and DE Jerel Worthy (back) are on reserve lists. Titans — FB Collin Mooney (illness), LB David Gilbert (shoulder), LB Jonathan Willard (lower body), DL Mike Martin (hamstring) and DL Antonio Johnson (knee) may not play.
FIVE THINGS TO WATCH
AN NFL FIRST: Second-year center JC Tretter is No. 1 on the depth chart despite never having played an NFL game. The No. 1 offense isn't likely to play more than a series or two, but expect Tretter to see more time than the others to help get him ready for the season. Rookie Corey Linsley will follow Tretter.
CORNER WATCH: With depth in the secondary, expect defensive coordinator Dom Capers to mix and match his corners in a few different ways while the No. 1 defense is on the field. The top four are Tramon Williams, Sam Shields, Casey Hayward and Davon House. In the nickel, Williams has played some in the slot to accommodate House, and other times Hayward has been in the slot with Williams outside.
GUESSWORK: A year ago, the Packers had little idea what kind of scheme the Arizona Cardinals were going to run, because they had a new coach. Now, the same challenge is presented with the Titans, whose coach, Ken Whisenhunt, is in his first year. There could be some adjustments on the run that might cause some problems in coverage and pass protection.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: You'll definitely need a scorecard to tell who all the players are running in and out of the special teams units. McCarthy wants to look at as many young players as possible, and this is the best place to do it. Rookies like Adrian Hubbard, Demetri Goodson, Jeff Janis, Joe Thomas, Rajon Neal, LaDarius Perkins and Carl Bradford are some players to keep an eye on.
FAMILIAR FACE: If he has done the same work in Tennessee that he did at Wisconsin, offensive line coach Bob Bostad will have the Titans doing some good work up front. Bostad coached tight ends for two years before taking over the offensive line from 2008-'11 for the Badgers. He moved to the NFL in '12, when he was named line coach in Tampa Bay, and joined Whisenhunt this past off-season.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm interested in how Tretter does and our receivers but other than that there's not much going on in camp. Tight end I guess. I'd be fine with Lacy sitting out the whole preseason. I wouldn't play Clay much either in any preseason game

totally agree on lacy and even starks not getting more than a couple carries the whole preseason. We know what we got there; no reason for them to take any unnecessary hits.MickeyDavis wrote:I'm interested in how Tretter does and our receivers but other than that there's not much going on in camp. Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Rodgers lacy and Nelson all out tonight. I like it. No reason to risk a freak injury

I really don't agree with you here. Back-up ILB is very intriguing - what do we have in Thomas or Doughty vs. Barrington and Lattimore. Watching the progressions of OLB candidates as well - will Palmer, Mulumba, and Bradford have a battle? The safety position is wide open. We have two very interesting UDFA RB's who could challenge for the 3rd spot over Harris. The 5th CB position is very much up for grabs. What will the state of our back-up OL be? Barclay's injury is huge considering the lack of experience across our back-ups. What about a D-Line w/out Jolly and Pickett? Will Boyd make a jump? How far along are Pennell and Thornton?
I think there's quite a bit of intrigue beyond the WR's and TE's. And, I completely agree with sitting our key players. We have enough trouble w/ injuries as we all know.

^^ totally agree there's some interesting battles. It would be awesome to have sherrod and Taylor play well in preseason and make us all feel better about the oline depth. We're deeper at olb than we've been in years. MLB is interesting and it wouldn't shock me if Barrington or Lattimore challenge for a starting spot. 5th corner is wide open. Back up qb should be a good fight too but I think Flynn wins. He's destined to be his generations dougy peterson.

Wow at this rain. Makes me nervous seeing our guys playing in these conditions in the preseason.

Cameras covered in rain drops. Dropped signal. Classic TMJ4.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.
