Maybe. Recent things I've seen here and there suggest that they don't want to take on Jason Thompson and want expirings. I can see it to be honest. Smith is still a talented player even if there is no way for him to show it with the Pistons.
After looking at free agency prospects moving forward I think the Kings should just give them the cap relief if that's what it takes because I think Millsap is like the only potential big name free agent for the Kings if they have the money and at that they'll be grossly overpaying for someone like him to get him. That's not even considering that he doesn't bring the defense they need at PF, just in that he's probably the only bang for the buck type out there. I still don't fully trust this front office after most of the moves they've made but I will be severely disappointed if they are still holding out FA hopes for Klay Thompson. You never know with "positionless" basketball. 15 SG's could work in that setup, haha. Just have to hope the W's wrap him up if they think he's truly more valuable than Love which is just plain nuts.

I agree I bet they want a Terry + Williams + 2nd rounder. So they can waive Terry and another player to make a spot to make room for Monroe.
then you can move JT for Chase Bud.

I think the Monroe situation has to play out before we know what the Pistons will do with Smith. He is potentially their starter as of now
