Threads like this stay open for a loooong time on the GB all the time. The only time they get locked is when people start throwing insults around and stuff like that. There is no reason to lock this thread imo, as long as both sides remain civil.

The thread is about Tim Hardaway Sr. joining the pistons coaching staff, not homo vs hetero debate. This thread has been derailed , and normally mods are responsible for keeping the debate on topic ie the op. Read forum policy

Well I for one enjoy the mods on the Pistons forums because they aren't tyrants and allow for topics to go off track here and there. We can agree to disagree but I would much rather have mods like that then some of the tyrants over at the GB.

DP, I think we are going to have to agree to disagree what we each consider to be tyrannical behavior.

I don't think it would be a wholly unreasonable action to shut down this thread. I also don't think it would be in any way an abuse of a mod's administration power to do so.

Also, because I'm all about logic I'm going to point out a logical discrepancy DP.

You point out that threads like these stay open all the time on the General Board and at the same time call the mods there tyrants.

You then praise the mods here for not acting like tyrants and letting this thread continue.

Sorry, I couldn't resist :)

I said some of the mods on the GB. Sometimes mods can be okay and let discussions go but other times mods will close threads or ban people just because they don't like what they said. We even had a few complaints from Pistons fans specifically last year about how they were being mistreated on the GB. It is illogical to equate some tyrant mods to saying all of the mods in all situations at all times are tyrants

And fine, we can just agree to disagree. I also think it would NOT be an abuse of the mods power to keep this thread open if people want to continue the discussion. I for one am satisfied with discussion at this point am willing to continue with it if other people, like Snakebites, wants to continue.

Your the only person who enjoyed that little debate you and snake had. This has nothing to do with how great our pistons mods are, and i'd argue great mods keep a thread on track and inspire discussion, not derail it. Like i said, this is what PM's are for. Look at all the responses, this discussion does not belong in this thread and neither does ours. Get back to the op

Hey guys, given the complaints about the thread I have chosen to address them publicly.

I chose to allow this subject to remain here feeling that it would not disrupt the forum so long as the discussion on this matter didn't spill over into other threads. I didn't mind, just this once, a serious discussion about something not strictly Piston-related. Those uninterested in this discussion could simply avoid it, and as long as such divergences did not become a regular thing, I did not see a problem.

That was my personal judgement, and the other mods presumably chose to let it continue because I had chose to post in the thread rather than locking it. The responsibility is mine and mine alone.

If the majority of posters are unhappy with this decision/feel that this discussion has no place here then my duty is to serve those needs. Given several comments have indeed been made to this affect, I will lock this thread, and I apologize to those who were offended by the content.

With that said, Blkbrd, I categorically do NOT appreciate being called out by name on a public forum by our users. I find it very ironic that you call for the use of PM's to garner mod's attention yet rather than choosing that venue of communication you instead chose to publicly bash my modding decisions before the entire forum.

If anyone has any comments or questions with regard to this thread please address them to me via PM. This is where this public discussion ends.
