Re: Trade Ideas Thread
I'd do Bass, James Young, Faverani and Joel Anthony plus the Clippers and Cavs picks to Detroit for Hibbert, with Monroe going to Indiana. That's all expiring deals except for Young, plus two picks.
There are only two teams in the league that can really take on Monroe without sending much salary back, so getting some semi-useful batch of expirings is probably going to happen for Detroit to get anything out of Monroe.
Much more than that and I'd be out.

What good is Hibbert to us if Rondo is gone? Even if you believe Smart is the PG of the future... it will take him a few years to get there and by then Hibbert will be even more old and broken down then he is now, if he is even still hear. He would most likely walk next offseason as a FA and we would have got 2 non-lotto picks for Rondo?
yep... alternative is all in on rebuilding with Rondo. we are not going to get much better return than that in any realistic trade scenario.
Smart will be ready faster than you than you think IMO.
I see your point though and I totally waffle on whether to trade Rondo...and how much life Hibbert has left..he is only 28...but he could very well be one of those guys thats done by 30.

We got Zeller, Thornton and a 1st for CAP SPACE... we got ALL of the Nets picks for the rest of humanity for 2 senior citizens... you honestly think Danny is going to trade Rondo (in his prime!) for two 1sts? He'd rather just let him become a FA and hope for a S&T which would still net us at least 2 middling firsts.

Hibbert is terrible. He made all his money in the ECF in 2013 against a heat team without a guy over 6'10''. He is stealing money from Indiana, he's a terrible rebounder for his size, they had to go out of there way in that Washington series to forcefully give his no footwork having self touches, killing any rhythm that team might've had. You'd be trading a pg who can't score but excels as a third wheel, for a 7 footer who can't score and makes no one better. At all.
IMO other than picks only maybe a a few castaways like Rudy gay, or oj mayo will be available. If you think about it the point guard position has become so loaded, especially out west, and rondos value has really dipped the last year and a half. I think Danny waited about a season too long with this.

Was wondering would a Chase + Moute + Cavs 1st for Wallace + KO
Chase's contract is smaller and gives you money back both years. They send the 1st to balance out acquiring KO

Yup that's the problem with trading right now- the guys we want to unload are the big money guys, so 1 to 1 trades don't help us out cap-wise... But we don't have the roster spots to take on multiple players. Babb and Johnson are goners, Bogans too- unless something happens. We may have to take on a big/bad contract just to condense assets...

Bradley/Bass for Hibbert? Same defensive impact at different position, and what you lose in Bradley's shooting you gain in size. Bradley might have some offensive upside left but a motivated Hibbert is a cut above.

Buyout Anthony and/or Fav. If young's playing in the rookie league, does he count?

It's just not prudent IMO to pay guys not to play in a transition year esp. when the players you're making room for aren't really difference-makers. Young is signed, so he counts as part of the roster even if he plays in the D-League the entire season.

Re: Trade Ideas Thread
If we assume the Cs are in a two or three year rebuild minimum, and we assume that it is likely that we trade Rondo, if only because Smart is the future, then this is the sort of trade that works. I think both Charlotte and Sacramento may be game, as both are keen to improve immediately.
Boston trades Rondo to Charlotte
Charlotte trades Noah Vonleh and Gary Neal to Boston, Kemba Walker to Sacramento
Sacramento trades Jason Terry, 2017 unprotected no. 1 (or earliest possible no. 1 after it conveys pick it owes to Chicago), right for Boston to swap one of the no. 1 picks it currently possess for Sacramento's no. 1 pick in either 2015 or 2016, depending upon which year Sacramento keeps the pick. Sacramento also trade a future no. 2 to Charlotte.
So Charlotte ends up with Rondo and a future no. 2;
Sacramento ends up with Walker;
Boston ends up with Terry and Neal, both expiring, Noah Vonleh, a Sacramento. 1, and right to swap another no. 1 pick with Sacramento.
Charlotte gets the ass-kicking veteran sociopathic leadership Jordan wants to raise hell in the East with Big Al and Stephenson.
Sacramento gets a good young point guard.
Boston gets a promising 19 year-old big and future no. 1 pick, probably in 2017. In addition, if Sacramento finishes with a top 10 pick in the 2015 draft, the Cs could swap the Clippers pick for it. If Sacramento conveys the pick in 2015 then the Cs could swap Cleveland's no. 1 for Sacramento's no. 1 in 2016.
Boston waives Terry immediately.

According to Zach Lowe, Charlotte lost money this season. I don't think they can afford to get in a bidding war for retaining Rondo next summer. Kemba's RFA rights are probably much more valuable.

Re: Trade Ideas Thread
Combining rumors, for fun.
Pacers supposedly offered Hibbert for Dragic. And they are also purportedly interested in Monroe. We know the Pistons want Rondo.
To Pacers: Monroe (sign and trade at approximately $15M/year). Gives them a young, offensively-minded center for the future while they wait on Paul George to heal up.
To Celtics: Hibbert. The "rim-protector" Ainge keeps talking about, who will hopefully turn his game around playing with his buddy Jeff Green.
To Pistons: Rondo (+ Vitor for salary). Teams up with Josh Smith and Andre Drummond for the most hilariously awful free-throw shooting team of all time.
(Full disclosure - I do not support trading Rondo, but fear it may be coming to that with the lack of "fireworks" this offseason and Rondo's deal expiring.)

Re: Trade Ideas Thread
I think this is another viable Monroe alternative:
Green and Faverani to New Orleans
Greg Monroe to Boston
Ryan Anderson to Detroit
Boston might add a pick like the Cleveland pick. It leaves Boston very thin at the three and they'd likely run a lot of three guard lineups to create space. Asik/Davis covers the front court in NO so they land a three that can shoot better than Tyreke Evans. Detroit gets an asset in Anderson that worked for SVG before, and they can fit everyone in the lineup by shifting Smith to the five when Drummond goes off the court, which should work better for him than the three.

Arguments for Celtics "should trade" rondo are:
- He Is a "veteran all-star" (not logical fit in rebuild)
- He wants too much money (supposedly, but I don't believe it, just like the rest of rumors)
- He is expiring.
These arguments are correct if team hasn't good possibilities of improve in next seasons, isn't the case.
But ok, let's assume is the case:
Oh, I have good idea, hibbert!
- He Is a "veteran all-star"
- He is a little overpaid contract and demands too much money for next contract (is a all-star center, centers in the league are quite overpaid)
- He is expiring (has PO)
Buuut! is a rim protector!!!!!!!!

Shouldn't they be in pretty good shape with the new TV deal coming soon? Rondo's contract might be pretty reasonable the new CBA...
