Hibbert for Monroe

Post#1 » by NorCalFan » Mon Aug 11, 2014 5:15 am

Indiana seems to be interested in the trade. Why though fir Detroit? We have Andre so wouldn't hibbert put us at Monroe/smith but with Drummond/hibbert? I'd trade for him to move him if his stock rose. We could get a big haul for hibbert at his best. Or dare I say trade Drummond and keep him for the mother load?

Let me speak for everyone here and say that Hibbert wouldn't fit here at all. Him and Drummond won't play well together.

The next reason is his contract, it's a max contract. Idk how many years he has left on it.

Next, you ask, does he deserve it? Or does his value go up that high? I think some teams believe that he does even after the struggle that he went through.

So if we trade for Hibbert, I'd expect that we'd be looking to trade him again to get an even better deal than we could've gotten trading Monroe. Otherwise, he's not coming here to play.

Best option: 3 team trade with Monroe going to the Pacers, Hibbert to the third team, and we get an All-Star caliber player here. Why an AS? Because that third team is getting Hibbert and that's enough to give up a starting player at least.

I believe Hibbert has 2 years remaining on his deal.

No way do we get an all-star in that deal.

Portland could have interest in Hibbert still

Well I meant to say AS potential or was once an AS. Someone who'll fight for a place on the AS team. That's what I meant.

Do you think we can get a Monroe, Hibbert, and Batum trade?

That might be possible if Portland didn't go out and get some C (I believe, the details escape me.) I assume you mean Monroe->IND, Hibbert->POR, and Batum->DET.

Or a 3 team trade with Boston and Indy. Without using trade machine I would do something along the lines of.

Monroe and Jennings to Indy

Hibbert and Hill to Boston

Green/ Young and Olynyk to Detroit

I don't see Boston having any interest in Hibbert.

No way do we need Hibbert. Thanks for making that clear Spider. A 3 way would be interesting. Actually, Indiana becomes interesting now - last year they were looking like potential East champs. Did their window just close?

Sorry I have no interest in Centers who can't rebound.

There should be more interest in Hibbert than in Monroe around the league, after all Hibbert is a rim protector everyone is looking for. So this should open up possibilities for a 3 way deal. Btw i don't want neither Hibbert nor Green, both David Falk clients as Monroe.

first thing that comes to mind is the howard-gortat tandem.

I'd prefer:

Hibbert to Atlanta
Monroe to Indiana
Millsap to Detroit

Indiana gets: Greg Monroe (sign and trade)
Portland gets: Roy Hibbert
Detroit gets: Nicolas Batum, Chris Kaman

Do it! Do it! Do it!
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

I think Monroe for Hibbert sounds intriguing. Sounds like Monroe's going to make nearly the same money, so it's not a cash issue.

Hibbert doesn't need a ton of shots -- more for Andre and the perimeter folks.

Hibbert isn't a good rebounder -- but Andre is.

Hibbert is definitely a rim protector -- and Andre can definitely guard 4's and provide help defense.

Hibbert only plays 30 min a game, if that -- he's super big and slow. Andre can cover the rest of the C minutes, splitting time 50/50 between the 4 and 5, and Smith can play 30 minutes at PF.

This actually works for me, but no one else seems to like it. How come? Those three at the 4/5 with shooting at the 2 and 3 makes sense.

I blame Dery for this. He seems to have been suckered by a fake twitter account and tweeted himself about it, and every account of this "rumor" now lists Dery as the source.

Drummond cannot guard 85% of the fours in the league for any length of time, and doesn't have the offense to play the four - let alone on the court at the same time as Hibbert while doing so.

While I understand that POV, I think Drummond *can* play the 4 offensively. It'll help his development. He can take guys he's way bigger and stronger than down in the post, and good luck keeping him off the offensive glass.

I'm not sure why you think Andre can't guard 4's either. He's as quick and athletic as any of them, save perhaps Blake.

Hibbert and Drummond are friends which might inspire both to play harder plus they both Jamaican.
