The switching tires is common on sprint cars to fit them into the trailers. Since the tires are so big and staggered so much teams have a smaller set of tires that they'll put on the car to load it in the trailer.amcoolio wrote:I posted the video before it was known that the kid died, so sorry about that.fatlever wrote:i am trying to avoid watching the video. so can someone explain - did it seem like stewart intentionally hit this guy? or was it more like he didn't try to avoid the guy, thinking the guy would certainly move? or just a complete accident?
I stayed up all night following the story because it was fascinating watching it develop. From midnight (when it broke) to about 3 AM, people were convinced Tony intentionally hit the guy. In the video, he accelerates (visibly and audibly). The main question was did Tony see the guy, because Ward was wearing an all black flame suit, the incident happened at 10:30 and it was a dimly lit part of the track. There were rumors that Tony and his team packed up the race car in the trailer as soon as it happened and switched the rear tires on the car shortly after the incident according to people at the track.

Then you have never known that deep dark pit that can be depression. Good. Because I have known a few people who fell into that darkness. Some made it out, some did not. But when it becomes overwhelming, suicide occurs. Does not take away the fact that those of us who have not suffered from that darkness can still find our humanity and sympathize. What they do in suicide that to us seems selfish is what they feel at that darkest of moments is only relief. You should still try and find your humanity and sympathize.

Coming from a person who has had depression issues I agree with LP. It is selfish even if I can understand the thought process on a personal level. No matter how low it gets it is always your choice and that does go through your mind when you think about it. I loved watching this guy do anything. He was such a great entertainer at everything I ever saw him do.
I am going to go Jumanji but also remember his role in Law and Order: SVU. What range he had.

Reminds me that I need to go through my VHS tapes and get my games on my PC. I have every Hornets playoff game on tape as well as a lot of others including match ups between Mourning and Shaq.
My mom got so mad at me one year because we ran out of tapes and I used my 6th grade graduation tape to record the All-Star game. Obviously I didn't care then but I kind of regret it now.
ahh.. the days of VHS... I used to record whatever important sports event was on at the time. Not everything has survived until this day, would often record stuff over previous recordings. I remember recording a lot of Euro 2004 (European Championship in football) games and then afterwards making a goal highlight reel on a separate VHS tape (haha, I'm not kidding. how does a 10-year-old do that is beyond me, I certainly wouldn't be able to do it today. I guess you need two VHSs to do something like that).
Every Hornets playoff series? That sound like some good stuff. Not every series can be found on the internet. I bet Shaq vs Zo is awesome as well. The time Shaq went for 46/20 probably stands out from that match-up (there isn't a video of it on youtube, I should change that) but I bet there have been other watchable battles as well.
And I guess you having this game is an extremely extreme longshot, right?

We had a Beta Max and VHS that I'd use to copy from one tape to the next, but I never even thought of trying to make a highlight reel. The transitions from one highlight to the next are probably epicly jarring. You sound like you had lofty ambitions in creating highlight reels even at 10 years old! This must have been the early seeds that led to your famous youtube mixes.

The 46/20 for Shaq is a high possibility. That one does stand out to me, but I don't know for sure. They were definitely fun games to watch though.
I'm mistaken about the playoffs. While typing up my post I remembered that I used to record all of the playoff games and included it without much thought. After really thinking back now, I know I have every playoff game up until we played the Hawks in 98. I think I have most of the Bulls in 98 but because it was the Bulls I had to help cover the games for a local sports radio show as an intern.
After that I'm not so sure what I have, although I know for a fact that I was in Las Vegas during the Magic series in 2002 so that's definitely not in my collection.

That would be an epic long shot, yeah, no chance on that Timberwolves game. I was a Duke fan growing up and loved Laettner, but I don't remember having any of there games in my collection.

I used to feel the same way till one of my friends did it less than a year ago and another attempted it not very long after. The fact that some people are depressed enough to where living isn't even worth it is... depressing. It's hard for someone who's never truly been depressed to fathom it, but when you see someone else with severe depression first-hand, it's hard not to feel pity for them.

Exactly. When that level of darkness overtakes someone, it is just heartbreaking. Mild depression does not even being to touch the depths of despair that those afflicted with a deep depression suffer. And it only leaves those of us left behind to ask the same questions over and over: Should I have seen something? Could I have done something to prevent it? It is hell for everyone involved.

Braves are so frustrating right now. Cannot hit for crap, and when they do hit, pitching falls apart. I do not blame Frank Wren, as he can only spend the money the ownership group gives him to spend. Atlanta needs this team to be sold to a single individual who has so much money that he is only concerned with winning and not making a profit. Current ownership is going to doom this team to being just good enough maybe make the playoffs or be near misses, but no where near competitive enough to contend for a National League crown or a WS title.

Judging anyones depression as mild or severe is not something ease to do. Depression can happen in levels and people can snap out of it as easy as they fall into it. Sometimes it is a life event and sometimes it is an accumulation of life that can lead to that path. Trying to say one cant understand the other and how the spiral works is just wrong.
