Puke. I'd rather snag David West, and I'm not really all that interested. So hang up the phone, Stan.

Re: Hibbert for Monroe
This trade wouldn't help us in any way. It would slow Drummond down

If Josh Smith plays up to his potential and buys into Stan's gameplan.....
Drummond/Smith >>> Hibbert/Drummond
Offensively AND defensively...

Does anyone see this as being remotely possible?... not even from a three team perspective... most teams would prefer Monroe over Hib.
Sounds like another slow day for the media... gotta sell them rags.

No chance. What makes you think teams would prefer Monroe over Hibbert?

Re: Hibbert for Monroe
Yeah, even with the problems he had in the second half last year, I think Hibbert still has more value than Monroe. Add to that that he's a more desired player type (rim protector) and I think he'd be easier to move -- Hibbert on 2/30 isn't going to be as potentially ugly as Monroe on 4/58 if he doesn't improve his jumper.
I'd make the deal just to be done with this Monroe nonsense and then look to move Hibbert quickly if it doesn't look like it'll work.

Re: Hibbert for Monroe
As I said in the other thread, Hibbert is grossly overrated.

As I've said in dozens of other threads, so is Monroe.

Re: Hibbert for Monroe
If this happens I'd officially give up on the pistons and become a cavs fan.

Of course i'm kidding... if I was serious I would have been a Heat fan years ago! I would never give up on my local team!

Re: Hibbert for Monroe
The only positive thing I can see from us getting Hibbert would be the topics that will be on this forum that are like * how many rebounds will Hibbert get tonight* or * how many games will it take before Hibbert gets double digit rebounds in a game*.
Detroit vs Everybody

To me Monroe and Hibbert are both flawed big men. Monroe can't d up and Hibbert disappears and can't board. I'll take Hibbert who can defend and score I guess by default.

Re: Hibbert for Monroe
IMO Millsap is available due to his short contract and the fact they want to move Horford from C.
Yes it would leave us very weak behind Dre but surely there's some minimum/veteran wage big we could bring in

Hibbert is a bum and we don't need a log jam up front. I'd much rather have Millsap

Re: Hibbert for Monroe
I don't really buy in to the Pacers wanting to swap Hibbert for Monroe, but the more I think about it, the market may be larger for Hibbert as his deal will be shorter and he doesn't need to be paired with a defensive PF. So, as Detroit, I would do it if I had a 3rd team involved that would land a SF or PG. *shrug*. Three team deal!
Highly doubt it happens, but it could be interesting.

Eh, Hibbert can't really score easily or efficiently either. He's at or near the top of the list for rim protection but there isn't much else to praise beyond that.

Re: Hibbert for Monroe
I don't think there is any chance it happens.
With that said, I think there are potential benefits to a Hibbert/Monroe trade. Whether it is worth it or not really depends on complex factors that need to take the entire roster and long term future into account, so I won't say it is worth it or not.
Pro Hibbert arguments:
1. Comparison to other "oversized"/twin towers is often a good thing-- Robinson/Duncan, Sampson and Olajuwan pairing? IIRC aside from injury concerns that was a good pairing. Although those contained top 10 all-time level players, they were pretty successful before reaching all-star status in the cases of Duncan and Hakeem.
2. Hibbert boxes out very well. His rebounding numbers are low, but it is notable from watching he really seals off offensive attempts. I'm not sure if there is a easy way to look up team +/- in team rebounding when a player is on/off, but I think Hibbert would be a leader there. I think Hibbert's capacity in rebounding and boxing out would be synergistic rather than redundant to what Drummond does and create a dominantly league leading rebounding team.
And then there are the well-known things, like matching up well against LeBron (verticality lol) and teams without a great front court, sometimes having amazing DRTG and allowing his team to design defenses around funneling into him. Since no one knows whether he's going to play at that level or fall off, it is an obvious calculated risk.
The Pistons should only consider if somehow they are convinced they will get almost nothing for Monroe.
