Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
Wasn't the Bulls leaked offer better? Taj Gibson, Mirotic, & McDermott?
OTHO Minny needs a potential star in Wiggins. Ending up Wiggins, Young + a potential 1st rounder is pretty good compensation actually.

Would there have been any way that Cleveland would have been willing to move back to the middle of the draft with the incentive of Gibson and Mirotic?
Although if Wiggins looks like Bennett did last season, the argument might resurface that Chicago's offer was superior. I don't think Chicago's offer would have been very strong unless they were willing to include Butler. Where the Chicago offer did compare favorably was with the Golden State offer - especially with Lee's bloated contract.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
I think you have to go with the best prospect here. Are McD and Mirotic really thought of as better prospects than Wiggins? If given the choise of Wiggins and a first or McD and Mirotic, I'd take Wiggins and the first every time, even without the first. How rookies turn out is not an exact sciece, but Wiggins is the better prospect at this point. I'm not sure I like it for the Wolves or not, but given that they are apparently flipping Bennett for Thad Young, is Gibson really thought to be so much better than Thad Young? I don't mind either player but don't think either are is all that great. Any difference would be largely irrelevant from where I sit - they're close enough.
And I think Thibodeau is a good enough coach that he makes decent players look much better than they are. The Cavs didn't exactly get what they thought they were getting in Deng. Augustin went from Raptors 3rd stringer to superstar. I think Gibson is good, but not significantly better than Thad Young good.
I find the Wolves kind of interesting in that I think Wiggins was a fantastic get for them, but I don't understand why they suddenly seem to want to surround him with a bunch of guys who can't shoot. Yeah, Kevin Martin is on the roster and they have some streaky shooters like Brewer, Williams and Shved, and Budinger if he can ever stay healthy, but Rubio, Wiggins, Dieng, Pekovic, Lavine, Young, etc. seems like a team doomed to have games where they shoot 24 for 70 or something like that with their only buckets when they get out on the break.

Yep, seems like the wolves will have to go through a rebuild again... Barea, Williams, Martin, Mbah a Moute, Turaif and Brewer don't seem like they are the right supporting cast for Pekovic, Dieng, Young, Budinger, Wiggins and Rubio.
Love to know the plan in Minny now.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
Minny will build around Rubio, Pek, Wiggins, and LeVine. It's actually not a bad group. And it's one that I think can win sooner rather than later. A year of Thaddeus Young is a nice get too. Plus they've got some youngish pieces in GRIII, Dieng, and Muhammad that might emerge off the bench.
All I know for sure is that LeVine and Wiggins are unbelievably athletic. Shades of Vince and TMac in Toronto. They're going to be the most spectacular open court team in the league this season. The way LeVine finishes breaks is something. With Rubio throwing those guys the ball too...
I like this Minny team. If they were in the East, I'd say they're a playoff team for sure. West, eh... Probably not this season. But you never know.
Big changes are also on the horizon for the West in the next two years.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
So LeBron is Batman. Who is Robin and who is then Aquaman?
Somebody is going to get Chris Boshed and have their scoring numbers take a big drop. Kind of feels like Love will be the one stuck with the dirty work and have his scoring drop. He's an in the flow scorer, not necessarily the type to demand the ball and have the offense go through him. Kyrie and LeBron are those types.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
I feel like it makes a lot of sense for Detroit and Phoenix to swap Greg Monroe and Eric Bledsoe.
Or another move I like is Monroe for Rondo, but I do worry about fourth quarter line ups with Rondo and Drummond.
Either way, Detroit needs to trade Jennings.
And if Sacramento still wants Josh Smith, I'd go ahead and take the deal.
Milwaukee is also looking to trade Ersan Ilyasova. I think Detroit would be a great landing spot for him.
Drummond tried out some post moves in the Team USA scrimmage. They looked ROUGH. It does make sense for him to work on his post game, he needs a couple moves. But his finishing touch does not look good at all. He's a truly awful shooter. This limits his otherwise enormous upside.

Yeah. But Kyrie is going to need the ball in his hands.
Cleveland should trade Kyrie for a good center. That team would be so much better if you swapped Kyrie with Joakim Noah or Marc Gasol.

Tontoz, last year we argued nobody (Monroe was the discussion point actually) would turn down a max and take the QO. Monroe turned down $60 mil reportely. Do I get partial credit?

Wait. Josh Smith and Rudy Guy on the same team ? Let alone with Cousins.
I'm been enjoying reading your posts here, but this one ? Not seeing it.

That's not from me, Sacramento wanted him and tried to get him earlier in the summer.

I recall that as well, but you have to wonder what they're thinking there if that kind of move was on the table.

No. A max deal would be 5 years $84 million. He turned down 5 years $60 million. That is a big disparity.

I think they think their foundation is Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins. They think they're in the part of their building process where all they have to do is address the peripheral needs with specialists. "Our defense sucks, let's go get a defensive big man." "Shooting sucks? let's go get a shooter." Hence the moves for Smith and the Stauskas pick.
Problem is their foundation sucks. There is not a damn person outside that organization that thinks a foundation of Gay and Cousins actually works. Cousins is not a leader. And Rudy Gay is Rudy Gay.
Sacramento has bad people in charge. They don't really have a vision for their build. They're not actually building a team, they're just drafting BPA and all of their talent passes through with a stain of early failure on their resume. It's one of the worst organizations in the league.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
All,
I know a couple posters here saw how adamant I was about getting Brendan haywood this year so we could use his fully non-guarnteed 10M contract next year to pick up another piece (damn it ernie). But Assuming we dont and the Cavs instead keep him and trade him next summer, What piece do you think they'll add to Irving, Waiters, Bron, and Love?
I assume they'll look for a Center and they could also add Waiters/Thompson to the trade to take on a bigger salary. Some potentials:
Brook Lopez - 1/16.7M
Roy Hibbert - 1/15.5M (Player Option)
Javale - 1/12M (Probably Not)
Derrick Favors - 4/47M
Larry Sanders - 4/44M
Thoughts?

I think they're going to be looking for a guard to replace Waiters. He has not impressed.

Actually, I mentioned Monroe taking the QO just a few weeks ago. So if anybody's getting credit, it's me!

Sorry if I've said this before, but people said the same about Wade teaming with Lebron - they both need the ball. You could be right, but I think Irving will thrive with Lebron and Love, because they're all high BBIQ high skill players who pass very well. Either way, it should be fun to watch how it works out - and if they can dominate without playing particularly good defense.
