With McDermott on a rookie contract for the next 4 years, Jimmy getting paid 8 million will be a great deal for the Bulls.

That said, if his 3 pt shot doesn't improve....that contract will be a little bit of a problem especially if McDermott is not as good as advertised on offense.

I really don't see how people could be upset with Jimmy at 8mil. That's a good price for a young athletic lockdown defender.

Now I'm not trying to argue with anyone that he won't improve, I'm just describing what I think needs to happen to be worth this type of coin being thrown around.

If they want JB to be a Bull, bad offense or not, they may need to pay him 8m just to match a deal, should that situation arise.

When Parsons and Hayward are getting max dollars and Avery Bradley, a 51.0 TS% player is getting 8m, Jimmy can do, even with pedestrian offense.

IF Jimmy's offense doesn't improve, I think it would be a bad idea to tie up that kind of money on him.

He just needs to be able to hit the 3 ball at 38-39%.

Butler wanted 10 mill a year and will easily get that in FA. If Snell develops a lot, I wouldn't be surprised if Butler was moved.

I'd love to keep him though. He is a really good young player but we saw Parsons and Hayward get max deals and a much old Ariza get 8 mill a year. Butler is going to get bank. Its going to be up to him to give a discount.

Butler is no more than an MLE player right now as an offensive liability.

Jimmy will net 8 mil but it's why the Bulls should package him and Taj for a legit SG...

He's only a liability offensively if you want him to be your 1st or 2nd option.

6.5 mil a year is very fair for how he has played. I think that he has a lot of upside potential but he hasn't proven himself completely as of yet. I would try and lock him up during the season so we can keep him, especially since he will most likely show big value in the playoffs.

The Bulls don't like consolidating talent though. They are a gathering organization.

We probably haven't heard much about it because it makes sense to wait until next summer. Jimmy has a lot to prove. Nothing makes sense for the Bulls right now outside of a low-ball offer.

Lol I don't think it was April. I don't think its a joke. I can easily see Jimmy getting offers of 4/40. Parsons and Hayward both got a lot more. And an older Ariza got 4/32.

Lance was a steal, mostly because of his 'issues'.
Deng is 29, coming off a bad year, and his production has been declining the past few years.

Butler is 24 and has no visible character issues.

I disagree. He would be worth the 8 mill.

Cliff Levingston wrote:ICLO, $8 mil per will look like a nice value deal for Butler at the end of the season. Without having the pressure of trying to carry a significant part of the offense + locking down the opposing teams' best perimeter player + playing 42+ minutes per night will do wonders for Jimmy's game on both sides of the floor.

That said, if he'd take 4 years at $8 mil, we should do it.

With the new TV deal in 2016 this is would be a steal

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.
