If you're asking if I'd trade Monroe for Millsap, Meeks, and Augustine? that would be a definite yes.

Josh Smith in Atlanta was still a mess & thats was when he could still play some defense. I watched a ton of Hawks games with him & Joe there. Josh has literally been the same guy since he started.

Re; the cap space, now I get your POV. It's insane to me but at least I get where you're coming from.

Ghost wrote:No, that's me explaining the situation when you step back and look at all the posts. There are a bunch of people who think he's not worth the money and don't care or want to trade him... Then there's the people who think he's a stud, an all-star, deserves the keys to the franchise, and all of that. The lack of middle ground on the situation is amazing.

You sound like Clarity . If teams were dying to get him, why didn't he sign anywhere and force us to match... Probably because no one offered that.
Houston said they would match Parsons regardless of what he got paid and yet he ended up in Dallas because they really wanted him. So just because we said we would match is not a great argument.
Yeah, I think he's a good player and could be helpful, but not to the point where everyone is dying to have him, especially on a max contract. Gordon Hayward got a max contract, not everyone was dying to have him at that rate. It only takes one team and the Knicks or Lakers might do it next year, but that's about it for what looks like Monroe's demand.
We also already have Smith on a large contract, I struggle to see how it would it be helpful to have another big making that much money when our team, as a Mavs fan just recently pointed out in this thread, when our perimeter starters may be the worst in the league (Butler/KCP/Jennings). If it's about the long-term and being the 11-8 seed in the East until Smith expires, I'll probably go insane waiting. I thought we could be better quicker than that. That's why having the money is attractive.

With the recent report from Mayo saying that SVG has not been notified by Monroe that he will take the QO, I guess we were both right. :)

I definitely agree with you that the no middle ground factor on Monroe is ridiculous.

Teams didnt offer because it was a fact that we would match. Thats obvious, I also get where you & a few others are coming from in the "ride out Josh's contract" route but its suicide to let a 25 year old big with Monroe's offensive skill set walk. You just dont do that.

Yeah, lets hope were both right!
Dont mean to butt in,but there is no way this is clarity,he basicly agreed to disagree and saw where some fans are coming from.clarity would never do that and never budged.

I have to disagree on smith tho (I also watched alot of atlanta ball),he was always a borderline allstar and snubbed a few times. He was known for his pesky defense and shot blocking in atlanta and his high energy.Befor he got to det,he was a liked player (even tho he took flack because of his shooting).

I think once he gets to play at the 4 with dre and gets a rythm with dre, people are going to love those 2 manning the paint and playing high octane basketball,When jennings lets his man by ,those 2 will be right there waiting and josh is fast enough to recover if its kicked out.Josh is also a good passer and has a good inside game,so we really dont lose anything on offense and gain more on everything else in my opinion with smith.

If we cant get a decent return on monroe in a sign and trade, then iam fine with him taking the QO and using the money saved next season to better balance the team.
