Adnan Januzaj has been issued the No. 11 shirt formerly worn by Ryan Giggs.
Giggs retired after the 13-14 season after 24 years with the club.
Giggs encouraged Januzaj to take the number.
Phil Neville, a member of the United coaching staff last season, suggested as much in a tweet on hearing the news. “Januzai given the number 11 shirt - massive act to follow but one I’m convinced he can handle he is going to be a great player!” he wrote.
United considered retiring Giggs' No. 11, but a source said the club "wanted the legend to continue."
