Odds Monroe signs the qualifying offer
I say it's less than 50% cause he can't be serious about leaving all that money on the table. I think the USA today report is to make way for a trade or a bargaining ploy by Monroe.

Re: Odds Monroe signs the qualifying offer
I honestly think if people keep pumping him up (media, non piston fans) and saying they respect him so much and making it seem like he should hold out for the max and its a disrespect to him that the pistons arent offering him one,I could see him taking the QO.Alot of people say he wouldnt be crazy enough to take it,but when you constantly hear those things,it will inflate his ego to the point he really will start thinking hes worth the max and is a godsend to any team in the league. Also the way his personality is,the way he screams and1 and pouts damn near every game,he does seem entitled.
Another big part is falk,is falk the type of agent that would advise him to wait and check out FA next year?Or is he more about the money, because falk benifits more from greg signing now then next year.

The odds are 50/50, he either signs it or he does not.

Does that mean the odds of an oversized ACME anvil falling on my head are also 50/50? Time to take out some life insurance...
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Yes. Correct. Remember to use a comical umbrella when you walk outside.

We have absolutely no idea.
There is such a dearth of quality information out there I don't even think its productive to venture a guess.

Am I the only who honestly doesn't care at this point? With nothing else going on this off-season this topic has been beat to death. I'm actually hoping one of our players get's pulled over for a DUI or is caught up in some real estate scandal just so we have something else to talk about.

i think the odds are 50/50 drummond gets pulled over for the dui cause he just turned 21.
Pistons vs. Warriors in the Finals in 2017 - With KCP hitting a game winner so the Pistons dont get swept.

I still care.
I'm just kinda tired of talking about it at this point.

One can only hope. I'm praying for mail fraud or a case of ripping the tag off mattresses.

This echoes my sentiments exactly at this point.
I no longer consider Monroe a long term part of the Pistons, it seems as though he wants to leave. That's fine, I can understand his reasoning for it. But, I just do not care any longer. Sign the QO or not, I could care less.

Re: Odds Monroe signs the qualifying offer
I wish I could sit in on a negotiation call between Falk and SVG. Then I'd have a much better idea. About the only thing we do know is that most things that we've read about the situation have been refuted by Monroe. I think it would also be fair to assume SVG isn't negotiating a lot. He was very clear that he had plans for all situations. So I'm guessing Falk is just holding out for more $$$. But would Monroe really take the QO? No idea.

Re: Odds Monroe signs the qualifying offer
Without other teams in the fold the QO is literally the only form of leverage Falk/Monroe have at this point, so they're playing that card as long as they can.
Whether or not he'd actually sign it if it came to that is anyone's guess.

Re: Odds Monroe signs the qualifying offer
^And the QO threat lacks most of it's teeth given Detroit won't be near capped out next off-season. Monroe walks and Pistons have $22M to spend in the off-season with 10 players under contract.
I say there is a 13.2% chance Monroe signs the QO. 5.6% chance he's S&T'd, and the remaining 81.2% chance he re-signs here - I'll guess a three year deal with the third year a PO, total value being $38M.

Re: Odds Monroe signs the qualifying offer
Based on the reaction of some on these boards I thought that Monroe had already signed the QO.
He then preceded to knock a woman out in an elevator, fund a dog fighting ring, and then shoot two people in New England.
Or at least that's what I inferred from the response.

Re: Odds Monroe signs the qualifying offer
if monroe signed the QO it would be a catastrophic mistake. like a $40 million dollar mistake at best for him. he saw the market was crap for his services and why would he wait out a year for a similiar market next season. he has a chance to get a nice payday and why would he turn that down. svg is a good coach, drummond is a franchise center - is monroe going to find much greener pastures next offseason, its a crapshoot.

At this point I just want to find a s&t that nets us an affordable rotation player that fits a hole and is still young enough to be around in a few years when we get competitive.

Re: Odds Monroe signs the qualifying offer
I'm putting the odds at 70% he signs it right now.
I just don't see either side "giving in" to the other at this point. I don't see SVG upping his offer. Furthermore, I also don't see Monroe changing his mind and signing whatever offer has been on the table all this time.
But maybe we work out a S&T deal somehow...
Otherwise, it seems likely he signs the QO at some point.

This post gave me goosepumps, just thinking of having 22 mil to play with next year, now that svg has gotten most of the bench locked up
