Kobe 493 pt. Countdown to pass MJ...29th game@chicago

Post#1 » by KobeKenobi » Mon Aug 18, 2014 5:36 pm

Kobe may be passing MJ in all time points this season. If he averages 20 points a game he will pass MJ on the 30th game. What's more interesting is if he averages 20.7 points a game he will pass MJ on live national television on TNT at Chicago.

Passing Jordan at Chicago would be pretty symbolic and would honor Michael Jordan and cause a big standing ovation at the united center. I hope he does it there but I think Kobe may average 23-25 ppg a game easily.

Not sure why this thread was locked on the general board since Kobe is loved and worshipped at GB. :)

Good looking out, Kenobi.

The lead up to the last few scoring milestones caused Kobe to be pretty inefficient...hopefully he just let's it come and doesn't force the issue. He'll almost always say the right thing, but it's obvious that these things affect his play. The Chicago game should be well within striking distance if he's healthy.

Really curious to see what his game will be like.

I thought it was vitti that said they would be looking to get Kobe in the post more.

I'm hoping this is more the style of play Kobe does for the majority of the game. A focus on footwork and more of a mid range game. Trying to get in the paint for layups or short easy jumpers. If he does this i have zero doubt he will be healthy for two more seasons and beyond knock on wood.

Of course I expect to see vintage Kobe stuff sometimes as well. If Kobe does opt to play one more season after his contract assuming he stays healthy he could pass Jabar for #1.

Oddly enough his knee injury last year came when he was posting up. Was rotten luck.

I see him averaging more than 20 PPG. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he put up 24-5-5 this season.

So there will be a big standing ovation because Kobe bumped down their hero down the list? ooookay.. :D

Or maybe the standing O is appreciation for taking their yelling clown and replacing it with another yelling clown?

I'd rather have him pass the mark when they play in Charlotte.

in his defense, his injured leg looked smaller, more susceptive to injury (i saw a pic of his leg.. it was on youtube, forgot which video)

and imo he return too fast and unprepared.. well, atleast, to me, his legs arent

that is common knowledge, that is why it is highly recommended that Lakers fans stay on this board until you really learn how to pick you battles and know how to fight. meaning that it is easy to get warnings and get suspended on the GB.

without pau and not sure what type of numbers boozer spits out as our only legit 2nd option. i think kobe would avg 25-28ppg per 32-35 min as the season progress.

I have my doubts of Chi fan giving Kobe a standing ovation....I'd say there's a better chance they boo the crap out of him, Chi loves MJ and hate all that is kobe.

I get suspended for comparing dirk to Lebron...putting dirk ahead of LBJ all time...but if you do that with Kobe you get a pat on the back around here. Bias here is insane.

Kobe should pass MJ b4 Chicago. I'm thinking Kobe comes out w/ a chip on his shoulder and puts up 24 ppg.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

4 games into the season...only 493 points to go. At 25ppg he's gonna pass MJ in about 20 more games.
