Yeah, wouldn't be a huge fan of this trade if it did happen. Don't think what the rumored offer is for Rondo is enough.

Cletics wont entertain that offer. I think they would rather him play well to start the season and if the horizon shows we should, then the trade deadline may be when the real offers come in.

Some blow it up trades just for the back burner:

Jeff Green to Chicago for Dunleavy (in the case that he blows out at 34 years old this season), Snell, a vet min guy and a Sacramento top 10 protected first 2015-17

Brandon Bass to Dallas for Ray Felton, Mekel, Ledo and their 2015 first top 20ish protected

Marcus Thornton for Kendrick Perkins (again, in case he further hits the wall/gets injured for the year) and a top 25 protected first.

I do this but I don't think Sac wants to give up Gay. Maybe switch Gay with Green and you might have something everyone is happy with. Found this little read from a Pelicans blog writer which breaks down some of the stuff that has been brought up here about Monroe.

I don't want to trade Rondo, but here's a Rondo trade idea I saw on Celticsblog- that I actually like if Ainge decides we are moving on from Rondo.
Only hard part is getting salaries outgoing from Charlotte to match- they would probably have to gain a trade exception.

Charlotte gets:
*Jeff Green (expiring)
*Josh Smith
*Clippers pick (owned by Celtics)
*Detroit 2015 first round pick

Detroit gets:
*Rondo (expiring)
*Bismack Biyombo (expiring)
*Gerald Henderson

Celtics get:
*Vonleh
*MKG
*Jonas Jerebko
*Gary Neal

Why?

Detroit: dumps Josh Smith and gets Rondo for 10 months to play with Drummond+Monroe. Jennings is an expensive 6th man or SG but you're moving Smith cheaply.

Charlotte: gets rim protecting power forward and scorer in Smith. They've now got 3 very solid players and are a legitimate playoff threat with their main guys signed long term. Very strong defensively.
Green is nice upgrade and they are almost like a poor mans Detroit Pistons championship team with 4 very strong 'almost All Star' level guys.

Celtics: we get some value back for Rondo and Green before they hit the open market, and get a very good piece in Vonleh. Kidd Gilchrist is a semi-bust so far but is a solid young bench replacement for Jeff Green while we develop James Young and gives Evan Turner some strong competition for the starting SF spot. We'd have to spend a lot of time on MKG fixing his shooting....either way, Kidd Gilchrist is a semi valuable trade asset.
Leaves us with:

PG: Smart/ Pressey
SG: Bradley/Thornton
SF: Turner/MKG/Young
PF:Sullinger/Olynyk
C: Vonleh/Zeller/

Guaranteed top 5 draft pick and still have all our Brooklyn picks.
