yeah i think sometimes people make the mistake of thinking Sam Hinkie is the only smart GM in the league

other GM's and front offices are probably full of bright smart guys who would love to do what Hinkie is doing , but don't have the ownership support or the financial means or whatever scenario ut is

That's if the deal happens on the 23rd. The Cavs deal will happen first, then ours might take a day or so. If it is real. We'll see.

I wanted Bennett, but I can live with the pick, besides (I know it has been posted before) Mbah a Moute is great for Embiid.

Like Olajuwon, who grew up in Nigeria playing soccer, Embiid came late to basketball. As a 17-year-old in Cameroon, Embiid was invited to a basketball camp there because of his height.

Coaching at that camp was Cameroon native Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, the Minnesota Timberwolves forward, who was immediately smitten with Embiid's natural repertoire of moves. "Those were moves that guys who had been playing for years were making," said Mbah a Moute.

Mbah a Moute brought Embiid to another camp in Johannesburg, South Africa and later convinced Thomas Embiid, the boy's father, to let Embiid come to the U.S. to play high-school basketball.

Again, a first rounder is more than I was expecting in exchange for Thad not too long ago, he's not coming back to Philly after this season anyways. We'll see what all happens, seems like discussions are still being had though...

I doubt the Wolves are doing themselves any favors with Hinkie by leaking so much, he's values reticence.

I kind of hope Hinkie says no. A mid to late first rounder and expiring contracts is not a great haul for Young. It's OK, but nothing special. If the Wolves really want him, let them blink first. Other teams will be interested in Young.

I knew it always sounded too good to be true. Sved is ass. LMB is good for Embiid I guess and that Miami pick will be a super late lottery pick at best.

meh...could be worse tho.

This next year is going to be hard to watch as it is. If all they are getting for Thad is a latish first, then I'd prefer them to keep Thad on the team at least until the deadline. Unlike Hawes and ET, Thad is a player that most Sixer fans actually like and enjoy watching his effort.

I think Minny is leaking info to try to get leverage. They want Thad more than we want their stuff. They are in no position to lowball Hinkie. Thad is a good player. They aren't gonna get him for garbage.

He words his tweets like Hinkie is begging people to take Thad. That's not how Hinkie works. I doubt he could even care less if he moves him. The T-Wolves are the ones that wanted him in the first place.

LOL @ not willing to deal Shabazz or Bennett.

If all we can get is expiring deals and the 25th pick in the draft, Minny can go **** themselves. Sixers have zero incentive to move Thad for that trash. Keep his veteran leadership and work ethic for the youth on the team until the deadline or let him opt out.

I still can't believe we are getting a first rounder for a guy who will most likely be a free agent in 2015.

Thad is an expiring himself for the most part, I tell Minny to go **** themselves on this deal.

First rounders in their 20's have so little value.

In Marc Stein's original article, he said Minnesota is targeting Thad Young to be their replacement for Love. Not that Hinkie is trying to trade Thad to Minnesota. There is a difference. If Minny wants him, and they keep going "Sorry, no Bennett.... sorry, no Shabazz..." etc, then they aren't getting Thad. Hinkie is not running a charity for his players. Could have traded him last trade deadline for a crap pick, but didn't want to even though he hurt the tank being the team's best player.

I still think if Minnesota does really want Thad, we'll get one of Bennett or Shabazz. If not, I stand by no trade going down based off of what we learned about Hinkie. He's not gonna trade him for a below average pick in a weak draft, plus Minny's crap expirings they are trying to dump.

This.

To not take a 1st rounder for Thad Young is foolish. Thad Young doesn't move the needle. They're going to be the worst team with or without him, and NOBODY is going to give the 76ers anything for Thad Young at the trade deadline. A good team would be trying to manage their cap and wouldn't want to take the chance on him picking up his option, and a bad team wouldn't give up their pick for him.

A lot of people fail to realize, a late first is sometimes worse than a 2nd just because of the guaranteed contract. You can buy picks around what they are offering for a few mill every year.

I'd prefer that either Bennett or Shabazz be involved.. Any deal for Thad exclusive of a half decent prospect has no appeal to me.

I have to think that all of these leaks are definitely driving Hinkie the opposite way from a deal, he hates when this stuff gets played out in the media, and Saunders is the old school type to want to do that.

A Miami 2015 pick is not going to be in the "mid-20's". That is ridiculous. Miami is the 3rd or 4th best team in the conference at best. Last year the 3rd and 4th best team in the East, picked 19th and 20th. The Heat pick, if conveyed, will be between #11 and #20.
