I'll give Masai some credit, too. But TL brought him in.

As I said in the main TL thread, MLSE needs a big thinker. Sports is a subset of the entertainment industry, and this is especially true of the NBA.

Everyone should read the article, but I'm surprised this tidbit didn't get more play:

Just a few days ago, we were talking in this space about Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant, and the possibility that he might choose Toronto in two years’ time. That was always a reach. Without Mr. Leiweke, it’s hopeless. He held that plan together. He knew all the players involved. You can’t hire another person who can do that. There isn’t one.

I think the real intention with Durant was to establish ourselves as big boys in the NBA. We might not have gotten him but our names would be out there as big players. I think the KD idea won't be talked about anymore after TL leaves.

I agree, Tim brought a sense of confidence to the organization that said that we can do anything, but with him gone I doubt we'll even attempt to go after him.

It may be time to move to the Raptors to the US.

Exactly. I don't think we would have gone after the all star game or head hunted someone like the exec of the year without him. He dreamed big and believed in this city. The others in the past were all too quick to say "meh, Toronto isn't a basketball market" People like BC reinforced this with his overpayment of players and purposeful recruitment of Europeans.

I think a 3rd team in LA would do wonders for the league.

Seriously, the media is trying to villainize. They need to f-off with that crap. It will turn things bitter for all involved. TL leaving is possibly the worst thing that can happen to the Raptors...correction...not having an individual owner that is passionate about winning NBA titles is the worst thing. A "Mark Cuban" type would likely fight to keep TL and have no problem allowing him complete autonomy.

We will never accomplish anything, and in all likelihood, at some point will probably pummel down towards the cellar dwellars once again once MLSE manages to push Ujiri out as well.
These ass **** man.

Rogers and Bell are Toby from The Office. Just no :banghead: Please end the pain Adam Silver.

I heard some of the mods are rich from their RealGM stock options, maybe they can buy the Raptors out.

Of course, MLSE is only concerned about the hockey team "appearing" competitive. You think the suits running MLSE even knew who Drake was? They probably thought he's just some no-name rapper who wanted to make a buck being linked to the team. You have one of the most popular entertainers on the planet trying to promote the Raptors and you just ignore him. That's MLSE for you: pieces of ****.

MLSE didn't return Drake's calls because they were negotiating with Celion Dion for the global ambassador position.

Look as much as I'm not about Aubrey - he served a purpose and he was utilized by an individual that knows what it takes to gain respect. If I had it my way - I'd clear out ROGERS/BELL and any holdovers from that regime .. let TL pick whoever he wants to sit on the board and keep this train rolling.

If not, find somebody else who can stay the course.

Media is essentially run by Rogers and Bell, part of the reason he is leaving I'm sure is the bickering between the two and the amount of power TL has. I'm sure family has a role of his departure as well.

Rogers/bell trying to save face here trying to show they are not to blame as they will be the ones who are here long term.

Yes. The fact that they're pushing out a guy like TL just shows how ass backwards the organization is.
