On the one hand, the pick Jay threw was a bad decision and he should own it. On the other hand, the pass before that was a TD and that pass attempt should have never happened. He was otherwise pretty good tonight. In fact, I can't really fault any of the qb's tonight. The defense was terrible on third down... we got lit up by penalties on both sides of the ball (some good calls, some bad calls)... special teams was terrible... the qbs were fine though.

You can't get too high or too low about PRACTICE FOOTBALL which is preseason football. If the Bears are terrible after Week 2, then I will be concern, but right now, I am just not that concern.

I will say this about Seattle, they had better be the "best team in football" because their start of their schedule is tough (2 home games against GB and Denver and a road game against S.D.) and their final six games are equally as rough (2 games against he 9ers, 2 against Arizona, games against St. Louis and Philadelphia). With the Bye Week in the season, week 4, that is going to be one tired team going down the stretch.

The 49ers are stacked also. Best case scenario, we lose to one of those teams in the playoffs. But I'll be happy if we go 2-0 against the Packers and win the division.

I made a 2 team teaser bet on the Bears beating the Bills and the Seahawks beating the Packers week 1. I'm feeling really good about that bet.

After having a few days to let it soak in, I'm not too worried about it. Better for it to happen before the season starts and expose some holes/issues than to happen during the season. At least now the Bears can adjust their personnel a little better. Biggest concerns for me are:

- Special teams. Just terrible on both ends and even surefooted Robbie Gould is missing or barely hitting easy kicks. Our only supposed viable return guy can't get on the field. How this happened, I have no idea. You'd think we'd have a couple guys back there who could at least catch the ball and get positive yardage.

- Linebackers. As much as people harp on the safety play, I think the LBs are a bigger issue. Briggs is showing his age in a big way. Bostic, while looking a little better, is still overpursuing a bit and getting caught. McClellin is still a target for the other team to run at. Seems like when he's in, the other team is *always* going to his side. Williams has been fairly invisible.
2024: Maybe there's some hope?

I wonder if this could be fallout from the Curse of the Mannely (the Robbie Gould part... the rest of it is the Curse of the Toub). Why did Mannely have to retire... he's not even a grandfather yet.
