I have no doubt in my mind if Bledsoe would be the same, the Suns would have raised their offer which I am happy they haven't.

More excitement for you... :D

And that's the disturbing thing about all of this. It's nice that we have a top 30 player in Dragic, and potentially another top 25ish talent in Bledsoe, but we really need that "Top 15" type of player. Easier said than done, sure, but we've acquired a lot of assets this past year. I mean, there has to be a team out there that has a star player that is not a playoff team, that is looking to rebuild, ala Wolves/Love.

How about Cousins in SAC. Yeah maybe a pipe dream, and he has maturity issues, but he's uber talented, young, and passionate. Pair him with Dragic while he's in his prime and we are instant contenders, IMO. Can't we put together a package with Bledsoe. Something like this:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lck6dao

Not cap guy at all, but if they could get Bledsoe to agree and sign a 4/$56M, plus Len and Warren, we would ultimately probably lose out on the deal, but in order to get us to a 5/6 seed now, I think it'd be worth the loss.

IT/Dragic/Ennis
Dragic/Green/Goodwin
PJ/MarcusMo/Green
KieffMo/Tolliver/MarcusMo
Cousins/Plumlee

Or how about a Playoff team that needs more depth and an upgrade at another position, like OKC, and we add a 1st or two to sweeten the pot:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nvcuk8e

Bled/IT/Ennis
Dragic/Goodwin/Bled
PJ/Warren
Ibaka/Tolliver
Len/Plumlee

Flame away--I'm new here, so I've got some learning to do with this stuff. Just thought I'd throw out an idea or two, even if they are bad ones. I'm also not great with understanding the whole "spacing" thing--sorry, so these two may be horrible additions with what we are trying to do.

My goal is to get us a difference maker right now to pair with Dragic to get us a "big two", and then hope one of our younger guys develop into a stud, giving us a "big three".

I like both deals, but those teams are not going to let Cousins or Ibaka go.

Rubio is on notice. The Wolves are trying to sign him to an extension, and so far his agent, Dan Fegan, is balking at the idea of a 4-year, $43 million deal. That's plenty for a player of Rubio's caliber. It's a lot more than Atlanta point guard Jeff Teague makes -- maybe a better player -- and is what Golden State All-Star guard Stephen Curry makes. But Fegan is seeking the 5-year max. That's not happening. The situation is pointing toward Rubio being a restricted free agent next summer. In other words, the 2014-2015 season is huge for Rubio. He should improve his shooting under Flip and we know he has unbelievable athletes to cut to the hoop and catch alley-oop passes.

Even if we say "pretty please"? I just thought OKC may bite on upgrading their SG position, while downgrading their PF position, but adding depth, since SG seems to be weak in supply, where PFs are more easily found.

Or, since Cousins isn't taking SAC to the promised land, maybe they would take a deal with some young upside guys that may turn into studs.

But, I agree, it'd be tough to sell, that's for sure!

Most of the relevant stats (PER, WS, eFG%, etc.) indicate otherwise. But the larger point is, if we are going to S&T, what can we realistically get that's better?

If he isn't going to take the QO, the discussion is moot. I used to think he wouldn't. Now I'm really wondering. If he's bluffing, he's doing a pretty good job. :-?

Don't know if you guys saw this:

Eric Bledsoe (born December 9, 1989) is a greedy American professional basketball guard who plays for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 18th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft and subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

I live in Houston and watch all their games. Frankly it's not close. Kieff is better than Jones. The only reason Jones has better efficiency is because his FG% was much higher, but that's because he was never any higher than the 4th offensive option on any given lineup. He only shot layups and wide open jumpers. That also reaches over into every stat you mentioned. Houston never dumped it down to Jones and asked him to get buckets like we did with Kieff. Kieff averaged more points and rebounds in fewer minutes. If you honestly think Jones is above 50% from the field as a post up threat then I don't know what to say because his post game is non-existant. Jones also stomps on homeless people.

You're wrong about rebounds. Jones had more in fewer minutes. The rest is solid insight though. I've lost my affinity now because of the homeless stomp.

You can't do a 2 year deal with 2nd year player option under the current CBA. You either guarantee both years on a 2 year deal or you do a 3 year deal with the 3rd year being a player option.

I wonder if this will even be resolved by Oct. 1. The Suns would re-issue the QO and this might go all the way to the start of training camp.

I wonder if they might just try to up the per year and shorten the length, like a 2yr/$27M? Or a 3 yr/$42M with 3rd year Team Option that ups it by $1.5M that 3rd year. Gives him the chance to showcase his skills/health for 2 years, and if he's healthy and worth it, he earns $15M that 3rd year, but allows him to go to FA at age 27...still young enough to get a Max contract. Doesn't hamstring us too much, and still a tradable contract.

Again, not a cap guy by any means, but that might suit both parties' needs. Allows Bledsoe to earn a very reputable $13.5M per. Gives him at least some security over the QO, and sets him up for a big payday when the new TV contract goes into effect.

Yeah, it's better for him than us, but wouldn't kill us, I don't think.

EDIT: BTW, How long do I have to wait to be able to post in certain forums and PM? Just curious as I noticed I can't post in the General forum and can't PM. Understand the reasoning, just don't know the specifics. Thanks in advance!

Can't do! Been a Steeler fan longer than a Suns fan--since the 77' Season. I will say, though, had the Cardinals moved to AZ sooner, like 1980ish, I would've probably "switched" allegiances, but by the time they moved to PHX, I was too entrenched.

If it makes you feel better, I was rather conflicted in the '08 season SB. And I do root for them over any other team outside the Steelers. Same for the Diamondbacks...had they started the franchise sooner...

Sorry. Hopefully, that doesn't put me on your, or other Cardinal fans, "bad side" forever. Oh, and I can't stand the 49ers or Seahawks, like as much as I dislike the Ravens, bad...if that helps at all!

There is a good chance he lets it expire and wants to keep negotiating. But then he loses a bit of leverage. His only possible leverage then would be sitting out games which would hurt our team's chances to win.

That could work (the three year one). It would give less risk to the team in case of injury, gives him more money per year, and allows him to cash in on a max offer after three years if he proves it.

As for the second edit question. I'm not sure how long, but it probably is until you reach a certain # of posts. You could probably go visit the football forums, baseball forums, general nba forums, college basketball forums, trade forums, draft forums, etc, if you are interested, and get posts by participating in those so you don't have to just make posts here to get your numbers and over post.

Yeah, I posted in the Trades and Transactions forum. But good point. I'll visit some of the others as well, I'm sure. Thanks!

I'll try not to "over post" here, but am on Leave this week and don't have much to do, so I'll be hanging around probably more often than not this week. But again, I'll try not to wear out my welcome by posting a bunch of junk.
