Should the Pistons go after Beasley to start at SF?
Beasley put up pretty good numbers last year for the Heat:
-8 pts, 3 rebounds on 50% FG / 40% 3PT in 15 minutes
Our situation at SF:
Caron Butler - 10 pts, 4 rebounds on 39% FG / 39% 3PT in 25 minutes
- He is 34 and should not be starting for any team let alone the Pistons
Kyle Singler - 10 pts, 4 rebounds on 44% FG / 38% 3PT in 29 minutes
- He is 26, is not very athletic, could start but it would not be ideal
Cartier Martin - 6 pts, 2 rebounds on 42% FG / 39% 3PT in 15 minutes
- He is 29, played decent for Atlanta last season. Not exactly sure why we signed him to begin with
Given our roster, who would you want to start?
I wouldnt mind signing Beasley to a 3 year / 5M deal similar to what Datome's getting paid. 3rd year could be a player option.
If we can get two decent years (at 15 pts / 5 rebounds) out of Beasley for 3M that would be a steal for us. He is close to Monroe's age as well and is more athletic than any SF on our team. Plus Beasley would love to come to Detroit he knows the weed is really good

And then we could trade for JR Smith, and Javale McGee....

He's worse at the 3 than Josh smith. That is saying a lot.

I don't care if he dropped 20ppg/5rpg/5apg. Keep him away from Dre.

Man, I thought last year would have put an end to these Beasley threads once and for all. Dude is a low IQ player who doesn't play D and has a penchant for getting into stupid situations off the court. Anti-thesis of the sort of player SVG has says he wants on this team.

I don't want Beasley in the league at all, not even sure I want him in the country.

NO!!!
The only pro is that he would make Jennings and Smith look like intelligent decision makers.

There's no room for him and he's not better than the guys we already have at SF.
If we didn't sign butler and martin maybe, but even then i'd be hesitant.

I was looking for the hell no option, but I didn't see it
Why don't we just get my buddy Dave to do it. He's like 6'7", loves to smoke pot, and can't make any meaningful contribution to a winning team.

As someone who watches both last season, Beasley was passive a lot because he didn't want to make any mistakes, spo had a really short leash for Beasley. I also think his defensive responsibilities would be less because far as I know we won't be a heavily trapping team

Re: Should the Pistons go after Beasley to start at SF?
Singler/Butler/Martin will hold down the position this year (and quite possibly the worst SF rotation in the league by quite a margin), and we'll use our 2015 first rounder likely lottery pick to draft our next starting SF for 2015-2016 and beyond.

The answer to the question is no, if jennings and smith weren't on the team, maaaaaaaybe , but if playing next to the greatest player in the world doesn't motivate you , i highly doubt SVG sexy a* is going too

Beasley sucks and has always sucked, even when people thought he didn't.

Re: Should the Pistons go after Beasley to start at SF?
I watched the heat a lot last year and it was weird every time I saw Beasley play. there were times when he could score almost at will and you could clearly see the talent level but something was just off. didn't play a team game if you ask me, although he was usually on the floor to provide bench scoring.
as much as I am an optimist I think if Beasley couldn't make it last year with the heat then he isn't going to make it anywhere in the nba.
I would be fine with the pistons rolling with singler/martin/butler for the year, they at least know how to play the game properly.
