Earl Barron?!
We couldn't find a better quality big for the vet min than Earl friggin Barron??
I know he's a body and a practice fodder, but go for someone a bit younger!
Udoh? DJ White? Tyrus Thomas is alive still.
I'd even go for Dante Cunningham, he's a very good defender and has a nasty streak (and the charges were dropped)

Dudley's biggest weakness is he's unathletic and can't create his own shot.
I'm surprised Dudley did so poorly with the Clippers given how good he was under Alvin Gentry in Phoenix and the fact that Gentry was the Clippers' offensive coordinator last year.

Re: The One And Only Offseason Thread 5: Dinnertime!
Coro is on KTAR right now but so far he's saying what we already know about Bledsoe.
We put out feelers, teams call us. Still haven't heard from Bledsoe in months. Still talking to his agent.
Asked what scenario he thinks will happen with Bledsoe:
1. QO is the leader
2. Negotiating a deal still possible due to so much time left.
3. Sign and Trade unlikely this late into Free Agency.

We will sign Zoran. Just not this offseason.

Dudely last year: "That's the thing for me, I don't want to s--- on a team, but I didn't want to go to Milwaukee."

I still haven't seen anyone offer a reason (beyond just speculation) as to why Bledsoe hasn't spoken to the Suns himself. Is this just an odd strategy being employed by Paul, or is Bledsoe angry?

Did he get a vet min contract? I thought he just got a non guaranteed contract.

Ok I worded it wrong - but still, vet min or non-guaranteed, we know what Barron can do. Why not take a chance with a younger guy who can block a shot at least?

Usually teams talk to agents about money and contracts.
Bledsoe did not have many peers on the team. He was not a detractor but he wasn't a positive either for chemistry. He worked hard and was very business like about his play. The thing that is strange is not that they haven't talked to Bledsoe about his contract but that they have not talked at all. Period.
Bledsoe and his agent set their position as max or no conversations and no forward movement.
As I have been saying early on it's either the QO or our offer. And it's going to be a wait.

What is your or your source's feeling about the possibility that Bledsoe would accept something like 4/54 if that's what it comes down to?

Re: The One And Only Offseason Thread 5: Dinnertime!
I remember some people wanted Henson. Just came across this.
tbucky34 (Boston)
What do the numbers say about John Henson? IMO, he's one of the most underrated players in the NBA. Can he play the 5?
Kevin Pelton (3:24 PM)
Henson illustrates the difficulty with saying "the numbers" because of the divide between box-score methods and plus-minus methods. Per the former, Henson's solid rebound rate and excellent shot blocking make him look like a quality young prospect. But the Bucks have played worse with Henson on the court, which is why real plus-minus has him as one of the league's worst players: http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_ ... 1/sort/RPM
I don't believe either extreme, but I think Henson's difficulty playing center because he's so skinny makes him a tough fit in the modern NBA, where fours generally need to space the floor.

We don't need him to block shots, he is practice fodder. He is all hustle, and he will make the players work for everything.

Here's another thing I'm confused about. If they simply are demanding max and that's that, what is left to talk about?
McD: Hey, Rich.
Paul: Hellooo... Ryan.
McD: Would you accept four years, fifty-...
Paul: No. Max only.
McD: Alright. Have a good weekend. Talk you next week.

Oh, that is simple. He has been given specific instructions by his agent. The agent wants to maintain control of the situation and having Eric speak directly undermines that. Its actually pretty common in negotiations. The Suns just feel like they are getting nowhere with the agent and want to know for sure where Eric is personally.

If a sign and trade is nearly impossible at this point, and we are really down to a super max or a QO, why hasn't Eric signed the QO already? Does he really believe that the Suns will cave and give him exactly what he wants?

he'll improve dramatically as he fills out his frame.
And plus/minus is dependent on the lineup he is on... in any case he has the shot blocking skills, athleticism and rebounding instincts.

So 4 years/48 million is the Suns only and final offer. They absolutely will not negotiate money or years or other parameters. The Suns will not even consider something such as 3 years at 12m, 12m, PO 14m? Contract offer adjustments will not happen. Period.
And Paul will not even try to push the Suns for any movement, it's simply max or nothing...for any team Eric plays for in 14-15. That means there is exactly zero chance of a sign and trade.
I have been of a mind, that both sides would eventually "get creative" and get something done in late September, but apparently both camps have basically shut it down.
If I have any of the Suns stance wrong, please advise.
