Well, they ranked 19th on offense in '08 and 1st defensively. The ace up Doc's sleeve was Thibs as his defensive co-ordinator.

I really don't see Doc as any more than a glorified motivator. He's always had enough talent on his roster, but never really makes anything out of it.

He hasn't always has a talented roster. When he lacked talent many people called for his firing. Like I said pre big three he was widely considered one of the NBAs worst coaches. And I agree he lacks the basketball mind (Xs and Os, play designs, etc) and he is simply a motivator.

"After spending a year working as a commentator for the NBA on ABC (calling the 2004 Finals with Al Michaels), he took over the Boston Celtics coaching position in 2004. During his first years with the Celtics, he was criticized by many in the media for his coaching style, most vociferously by ESPN's Bill Simmons, who in 2006 publicly called for Rivers to be fired in his columns."

How in the heck did you find that info on trades RDog?

BTW.... wonder what Jermaine ONeal is up to.

Googled it, and it directed me to a Utah page that talked about past players.

To answer your second question 6'11"?

Yeah, it'd be nice to hear Bledsoe say he's working on his decision-making and dribbling/ball control, but I guess not. We'll have to just assume he's not.

I think we should take a look at Paul Sturgess, who is currently playing in the D-League with the Texas Legends. I think he could reek some havoc in the paint for us this season.

Pops and Duncan are a package deal. But no way should doc be paid more than pops. Considering doc was considered one of the worst coaches pre Boston "big three," it's insane he is getting paid that much.

Doc $10mil
Pops $6Mil
Kerr $5 Mil

Who is the most overpaid?

According to cbafaq, Non-Bird free agents require a 120% cap hold when they enter free agency. In this scenario, Milsap would have a cap hold of $11.4 Million on the Suns books in the summer of 2015.

Does Milsap's cap hold allow the Suns to sign him prior to addressing the status of the other 2015 cap holds, Green and the Morri in particular?

No cap holds do not confer any sort of priority in signing a free agent.

So, in this hypothetical circumstance, just want to get it straight, in order to resign Millsap in 2015 the Suns would have to address the status of their "Bird Rights" controlled players (and their corresponding cap holds) prior to resigning Millsap?

I appreciate the tutelage.

Kerr.

Following Sterling Gate, Doc was the primary organizational authority throughout the transition of ownership. I know Bill Simmons gets heat on this site but he has written about this multiple times as have other prominent NBA pundits.

In the power vacuum left behind by the Sterling ouster it was Doc Rivers who stepped up and managed the day-to-day activities of the Clippers organization. That leadership is now being rewarded.

Do I think he is a 60% better coach than Pop? Not a chance. However, the circumstances do dictate some kind of pay raise for ONE of the best coaches in the NBA.

Shouldn't that be a T for hanging on the rim? Or is standing while holding the rim a non-offense? Or is he dominating the Washington Generals in that clip? Can he run the floor? So many questions left unanswered.

Doc has won a Championship and consistently got talented teams to the conference semis and beyond. In the end, what coach can succeed without talent?

However, I will agree that "motivation" and managing chemistry, while important, are no longer the primary attributes one looks for in a head coach. With the increased application of analytics on the game the implementation of an effective system beyond pick-and-roll/isolation basketball might prove to be over Docs head.

However, pending further analysis, the guy wins a lot and should be considered ONE of the best basketball coaches in the NBA.

For some reason I feel that this clip provides me an opportunity to come clean about something that has been bothering be for the last year or so.

I was wrong about Robin Lopez. I was a total hater. I mocked his play, his hair, his demeanor, his "lateral quickness", and frankly his general existence.

Unfortunately, the Robin Lopez of 2014 is the center I would like to see starting with this group of players in the current Suns system.

Im glad I can get this off my chest in an anonymous forum, its the first step, as I can't bring myself to admit to this fact when facing my friends who in the past consistently preached patience when debating Side-Show... er... Robin Lopez.

Lopez turned out better than expected, but I'd rather have Plumlee. His athleticism is ideal for this lineup. He has a lot of room to grow in Phoenix. I think he'll end up being the better player.

Brazil guard Leandro Barbosa has reached an agreement to sign with the Golden State Warriors for the upcoming season, ESPN.com has learned.

I wanted him back for the minimun. He will play great coming of the bench for Kerr.

Leandro was borderline terrible last year. Hope he does play well for GS.

Damn the Miami Heat are falling on hard times, when they target guys like Barbosa and even he won't sign with them.

I think the fact that he plays next to one of the best PF's in the league helps hide his flaws. His "lateral quickness" still isnt there and neither is his vertical jump (10 inches). He still plays with his frustrating crouching type moves, but he seems to get away with it alot more in Portland (it didnt work here or in New Orleans). He was a big goofy bastard, and i believe that he still would be, but being traded a few times makes you a bit more mature as you start to see this game for what it really is, a business.

The 2014 Robin Lopez is very different that the version we had, but i feel he only got that way due to us trading him and the players that currently surround him.

They have signed a better SG. Shannon Brown, great player, amazing athleticism.
