I'm jumping right to the Finals.

Celts over Clippers in 5. Doc gets some Gatorade on his fancy suit when shaking Stevens' hand as Rondo and Sully dump it on Brad.

1. Cavs
2. Heat
3. Bulls
4. Raps
5. Wiz
6. Cats
7. ATL
8. NYK

Cavs-Heat rivalry. People underrating Wade/Bosh. Bulls are the darkhorse. Raps/Wiz headline 2nd tier. NYK sneaks in to get massacred.

Celtics trade Rondo after he improves his value and Ainge can't find a deal for contention. Finish 28-54, but with hope in Smart to become a piece of something bigger. Sully improves value tremendously.

SAS, after a grueling match with OKC in the WCF, and Cavs meet in the finals. Cavs win. Bron gets MVP.

1. OKC
2. SAS
3. LAC
4. POR
5. GSW
6. MEM
7. HOU
8. DAL

Celtics draft Stanley Johnson.

All I got in me:

East:

Tier 1: Chicago, Cleveland
Tier 2: Washington, Toronto, Miami, Charlotte
Tier 3 Atlanta, NY, Boston, Indiana, Brooklyn, Detroit
Tier 4: Orlando, Milwaukee, Philly

West:

Tier 1: Spurs, OKC, Clippers, Dallas
Tier 2: GSW, Rockets, Portland
Tier 3: Memphis, Phoenix, New Orleans, Kings
Tier 4: Denver, Minnesota, Utah, Lakers

Finals: Chicago over OKC

I'm almost 100% positive the top 6 in the East will consist of those guys in Tier 1 and 2, and 100% positive those 7 in tier 1 and 2 will be the top 7 for the West (unless injuries obviously). The final seeds are up for grabs from several teams, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Celtics click and contend for the division honestly. I think they have more upside than NY and Brooklyn in that regard at the least.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Indiana completely fall apart and finish in the bottom 5 with no legitimate offensive options, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt considering their defensive system and record last season. They might be able to pull something off like Chicago has without Derrick Rose, but the issue is they don't seem to have a guy like Noah who can take control of the offense in terms of point guard ability.

I think Chicago made an absolutely huge pickup with Pau Gasol. As long as he maintains his play from last season, the Cavs are going to have a really tough time against Gasol/Gibson/Noah offensively and defensively. The Cavs are much more offensively talented, and I really like Love, but that matchup is incredibly tough for them, imo. Rose doesn't need to come back 100% for them to be a title contender this year with the Gasol pickup. Chicago's defense and 18/5/5 with solid point guard play should be enough, and I think Rose can do that still. I don't want to choose OKC because I'm biased. I hate the way they play basketball and think it's everything wrong with the NBA today. It clouds my judgment sometimes, but I honestly don't think OKC will win it all until they change their system and/or their coach.

I like the Spurs, but they have to fall off eventually. I'll still slot them in as a high seed for respect (and I love the way they play!), but it's tough to predict how they will play season to season. Manu and Duncan are literally ticking time bombs. They played great last year, but so did Garnett in '11-'12, and then boom all of a sudden, he was done. Declines are rarely gradual, imo, but I hope they are still there in the end. Maybe I'm trying to be overly realistic with this one.

Dallas is probably more in the Tier 2 area based on my rankings, but I gotta have a dark horse.

Cavs defeat the Clippers in 5 games in the finals. Chris Paul chokes hard and takes a hit to his reputation. Doc is outcoached and makes poor decisions with minutes. LeBron is finals mvp.

Kerr has a terrible first year as coach and his team overperforms despite him.

Smart proves to be an elite player and immediately helps the team. Same with Exum but to a much less degree.

Kobe has an off year and his age/unwillingness to adjust his game is a constant topic among Lakers fans.

Pierce thrives on the Wizards. Garnett suffers a season ending injury before the break :(.

MVP: LeBron James
DPOY: Dwight Howard
ROY: Exum or Smart
6th Man: Taj/Deng
CBPOY: Rose/Kobe

Very confident in most of my predictions this year.

Rondo will average 14 points 11 assists and 6 rebounds a game - but the Celtics will still be mediocre and he will still get traded at the break. Danny will not rely on free agency or cap space to rebuild. It's too risky for his taste. C's will be borderline playoffs with a 35 - 40 or so win season on tap..

Sully will outshine KO. Young and Smart will not play till after trade deadline. Bass, Green, Wallace basically all Celtics over 25 will be showcased for possible deal..and will see the lions share of minutes. Fans will gripe about our lack of uptempo play and how our coach doesn't play the young guys..

Thorton, Turner will be beside themselves with hate for the coach who is not playing them..in the first half.

Return to Boston Celtics
