Re: FFL 2014-2015 - Draft under way
Sorry guys. Gokce messaged me that it was my turn some hours ago. And then boom, the power went out. Waited for the power to come back, in order to do some research about my targets. Though I am still without power here. So I had to make my pick through the RealGM app. Hope made the right choice without research.
Edit: How ironic is it that power came back 5 minutes after posting this message...

Tough break. West is always solid however. He may not be the most exciting pick, but he gets the job done and always gets drafted after he should.
Kevin Martin is who I had at 1 after I took Korver, but then dropped him to 8th. I got worried about his playing time on a young squad.

I thought without Paul George, they were gonna definitely run their offense through West since he's the most capable offensive weapon on that roster. Now I'm checking a few reports and all reports seem to be pointing towards my point of view. Now I'm happy about the pick.

My biggest worry with West, outside of injuries, is that Indy decides to blow the team up this year and regroup next. West would be the first guy out the door.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: FFL 2014-2015 - Draft under way
I would like to thank Ham for taking Wes Matthews. I've had him in almost every team the last two years as my obligatory, best guy left pick. I really didn't want to have to draft him a 3rd year in a row.

Re: FFL 2014-2015 - Draft under way
I think we are finally getting to the fun part of the draft. Up til now it's been fairly predictable. And that's probably why I trade down a hundred times. It's no fun drafting guys like Bosh and Ariza. It's like a meal of wonder bread. Yeah it'll make a poop, but, you really aren't going to enjoy it.
But, now... I'm getting a little excited to pick. So many guys coming up that could have a breakout season and surpass their draft position. Just a ton of the next 30 picks are going to be 'fun' picks. Not the Tim Duncan types where you can just pencil in the stats before the season starts, but, guys with huge upside and big question marks.
It's time to make some hay.

Re: FFL 2014-2015 - Draft under way
I like the Matthews pick, he was my 3rd target at 68 (behind West and another guy)
not saying West will definitely have a injury free season since it all depends on luck. but are you sure you know what you are talking about? The guy played in 94% of his teams' games in the last 7 seasons. (522 out of 558 to be exact)
blowing up the team is possible yeah but unless he goes to a team with a very crowded frontcourt, I don't think he will do worse than last season. I believe it's better to go for value right now than to think about "what if" trade scenarios.

I think West was good value here. I don't think they'll blow the team up (George is only out for the season, not forever). He's relatively boring, but he gives you solid %s and pretty much everything else.

No, the fun part was trading up to pick Jabari Parker...like a thrill ride at an amusement park.

+1. He and Gortat fell just too far IMO. The problem is, I'm not very good at trading up. I'm much better at trading down.

This is how you do it. None of that 10 or 15 minute crap. None within the hour. Leave it with words like 'almost' or 'soon' or even 'in the next few'.

Re: FFL 2014-2015 - Draft under way
I was guessing that I'd be drafting Sanders @ #77. I didn't really want him because his FT% would muck up what I've got going all ready, but, I just thought he was going to be there and be too good to pass on. Besides I could probably move him to Fran later...
Long story short, I'm glad Brian took him so I don't have to. (I do think it was a good pick, I took him with my first pick last year I thought he was so good. I was terribly, terribly wrong. But, I liked him then and still like him this year)

Almost ready... as in, I'm here. I know it's my pick. I'm almost ready to pick. I'm just double-checking some things. That typically has value to the people afterwards who are wondering if the person is even aware that they're up or are even around to make their pick. Don't be a diva.
