Update: It looks as though ESPN has taken down the video they posted on YouTube about this. I've transcribed what was said below. Maybe Jackie MacMullan was none too pleased about her conversation going public. Maybe she said some things that were told to her in confidence or she just has a feeling that Rondo wants out and doesn't want to be the source for something that's not concrete. Unfortunately, you can't unring that bell....

MacMullan: Yea, and they'll give up McLemore. But the thing is, Rondo's already told them, flat out, 'I will never re-sign with you.' That's no good. Where do you go?

Yeah. This is all bogus.

Rajon Rondo didn't demand a trade, according to the Boston Herald
By Kevin O'Connor | @KevinOConnorNBA on Aug 31 2014, 9:25p

http://www.celticsblog.com/2014/8/31/60 ... ton-herald
This, like Jackie MacMullan's report that Rondo "wants out," is a non-story as far as I'm concerned. I don't think Rondo would demand a trade, but I do think there is probably an understanding between the front office and him that if things don't turn around this season, then there is a greater chance he bolts next summer.

And it doesn't take media reports to deny or confirm any of that. It's obvious that Rondo has a deep desire to win that can only be matched by players like Kobe Bryant. But it's also clear that Rondo is invested into the Celtics tradition, and would love to see "9" hanging in the rafters someday. Players are immortal if they succeed in Boston and you don't get that many other places....

If you get anything from my two articles today, please let it be this: Promise not to overreact to any Rondo rumor that is released before mid-December. Maybe then we can start giving them some attention, because right now we're just wasting our time.

Edit:

Rondo, agent deny that Cs guard has asked for a trade

By: Mark Murphy | BOSTONHerald.com

http://bostonherald.com/sports/celtics_ ... or_a_trade
Rajon Rondo and his agent, Bill Duffy, are both denying that the Celtics guard has asked for a trade despite multiple reports, including an initial report on ESPN.

A spokeswoman for Duffy's agency said that both men have discussed the reports, and publically deny that any such request was made.

"Neither Bill nor Rajon know where this has come from, but it didn't come from them," Alyson Furst said in a text tonight. "They want this on the record. Neither has spoken to anyone about this."

The denial falls in line with comments by Rondo on several occasions this summer, when he professed a desire to remain with the Celtics. But the veteran guard has also been the frequent subject of trade talks throughout his career. When Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck said that fans could expect "fireworks" this summer, many took that as a reference, in particular, to Rondo.

Jackie is a pretty smart cookie IMO... and she wouldn't be saying this if it were not true...

As far as I'm concerned if Rondo wants out....good enough...

If we can't find a decent deal for him before the season begins, then let him ride the friggen bench this season....

I've had enough of these rich egomaniacs calling their own shots...

Let him ride the pine ALL YEAR LONG!......

Maybe if thats what teams did to their unhappy players instead of catering to their every whim, some of that bad behavior might change?

He won't play uptempo anyway... time to kick his butt to the curb....

The video looked like it was people shooting the **** during a commercial break. Still, you have to think Rondo wants out despite what the agent is saying. I'm sure he'd love to sign a 5 year deal somewhere that's competing in the immediate future.

It aint just the agent stating it. Rondo wants to be on record too. Why did ESPN delete the vid? Its not like they care about reporting false rumors. All they do to is put the SOURCES stamps on the article to indicate to indicate it an off record report.

If fans would just say enough of this BS.....then maybe the players would understand their place....

They are employees.....not owners or general managers....they should not be able to force feed their way around the league....

When they screw up and then try to cover up the mess they started by denying that they ever said what they said, it only makes them look worse IMO....

If Rondo wants out, he should be a man and say so.....don't hide behind your agent's skirt....

This amounts to a "sports soap opera" if I ever heard of such a thing...

Send him packing.....

I'm dusgusted with the whole mess.... :x

“Neither Bill nor Rajon know where this has come from, but it didn’t come from them,” Alyson Furst said in a text tonight. “They want this on the record. Neither has spoken to anyone about this.”

Come on man. You know he's super concerned about his image because of his history, of course he's going to deny everything to the media.

ESPN deleted the video way before Rondo and Duffy went on record with their statement. Why can't Jackie Mack stand by her statement and why did ESPN never report this on their site?

The video was deleted but that doesn't mean much. The story already went viral.

When Rondo steps up to the plate (himself) and states his intentions or if he signs an extention with the ballclub, then I will believe him....

Till then this is just so much BS.....

He needs to decide if he is on the bus or off it!

Thats my point. Why did they delete the vid and never report it? ESPN had it taken down, not Rondo or his agent. Jackie Mac is the one who isnt standing by what she said off air.

Why sign an extension? He gets more money (and years) if he signs in free agency. He wouldn't sign an extension with the team he is traded to (if he is traded).

I see what you're saying but I was just commenting on why Rondo and his agent would publicly deny this despite the video being taken down. I still feel like he wants to be traded despite what he's saying.

I absolutely love Rondo. He's one of my favorite players and I hate to see him go.

But it seems that the signs lead to him being traded or not signing in Boston. I don't know. Maybe it's just me being pessimistic.

But if it is indeed a trade, I still think the time is not right. His value is at an all time low right now.

Would it be possible to do a Wallace + Rondo for Jennings + Monroe?
