Couple of things:

1) From a basketball perspective (if we're looking only at fit moving forward) I'm on record as saying I do NOT care about anyone's fit with anyone other than Drummond at this point. From that perspective Rondo is a guy that, in a vacuum, we'd have to be interested in.

2) I don't see why he'd resign here.

3) I don't see how we make good trade partners for Ainge. We can't spare draft picks at this point and Monroe wouldn't commit to Boston. And Drummond? Umm...no.

In short, yes, I'd want to, but no, I don't think there's any chance at all.

You would be a excellent trading partner if you took back Wallace off their books. Since you guys would want to be serious playoff contenders. If you managed to get a Rondo + Green package, you should take it in a heartbeat. A lineup of Drummond / Smith / Green / Meeks / Rondo is a 4th seed in the east.

I don't see any way we could put together a package in which we take back Rondo, Green, and Wallace in terms of salary.

I don't think it's a good idea anyway. As you already mentioned he would likely bolt next summer, leaving us without a lottery pick or young talent for Monroe, plus Wallace and his deal too, screw that. How about Green, Bass and a future pick for Monroe?

I could go for that.

Judging from this, am I to assume that you think Monroe has more value than Rondo?

After all these years I'm not even sure PP looks at trades in terms of player value....

I didn't mean take back both Green and Wallace in the same package.

Best package Rondo + Green for Monroe + Jennings

worst package if Boston thinks that is to much
Wallace + Rondo for Jennings + Monroe.

In all honestly I think the top move makes the most since. So I got a question would you guys prefer Bass or Jerebko?

Would Monroe sign on long term with Boston sans Rondo? If he's buddies with Green, than I think Green would have to stay in Boston as an enticement for Greg.

Rondo might not fit here offensively, but you`d have to get excited about the defensive potential of a Rondo/KCP back court with Dre and Smith in the starting five as well. I might even be open to take on Wallace to dump Jennings. Include Singler and Bass to even out our roster a bit and we become -

Rondo|Augustin|Bynum|Dinwiddie
Meeks|Caldwell-Pope
Wallace|Butler|Martin|Datome
Smith|Bass|Jerebko
Drummond|Gray
Weaver = Hinkie
VW to Portland

Rondo/KCP/3&D SF/Smith/Dre would be beast defensively.

Boston would want Greg Monroe, 1-2 first round picks, and we would have to take on Gerald Wallace.

If SVG is committed to his system then I think he wouldn't go for rondo. Can't shoot.

Rondo, Green and Olynyk are the guys we should looking at. If Monroe is gone, we need another guy to play center some minutes, so we better take Olynyk or Faverani rather than Sullinger and Bass.

Rondo + Green (or Young) + Olynyk (or Faverani) + Wallace

FOR

Monroe + Jennings + Singler + Bynum + 1st maybe

That works in terms of salaries with the big contract Moose will sign.

I dont want green and smith on the same team, thats for sure. The best possible scenario would be to give up anything other than kcp/moose/dre, but that doesnt exactly seem likely. Rondo with monroe/drummond and shooters on the wings would be absolutely insane though.
I definitely think something can be built around monroe for him. Rondo still has plenty of good years left in him, and his jumpshot was only getting better before the injury.

I definitely think Detroit has a shot, we have pieces that would interest Boston: Monroe, First(S)
We have pieces that would interest Rondo, Drummond/Smith/Shooters/SVG/money

I imagine Rondo wants out but every team wants to know that he will resign .. And he's not going to do that. So he'll probably just end up in UFA. That's my take. I'd be surprised if anything else happens. Dallas and Houston, maybe the Lakers and Knicks could all end up giving a nice offer in FA I think next year.

Rondo is a heck of a player, so obviously we should be interested. Of course, we don't have much to offer a rebuilding team. They would probably be interest in Monroe talent-wise, but I doubt locking him up on a near max contract is how they want to rebuild.
