How good will this most recent draft class be?

Post#1 » by Eduardo » Tue Sep 2, 2014 2:40 am

How good do you expect this draft class to be? It is full of athletic freaks and potential stars. I think it could top the 2008 and 2009 NBA drafts. It will be the best in a while. Embiid, if healthy, will be the best center in ages. Wiggins has crazy ability, Parker can be a Paul Pierce type player. You have Stauskas and McDermott coming out of college as bonafide sharpshooters. McDermott has the Dirk fadeaway and is a very NBA ready player, too. Exum has stud potential. This class could be something special. How do you think it will rank?

Even if the top tier talent doesn't pan out as promised, the draft class will be very very deep. I'm predicting many players from this draft end up being long term role players we'll see for the next decade. Be ready to remember all the names from this year that last.

Marcus Smart, Julius Randle, Vonleh. Lots of interesting talent to follow.

I don't see Embiid being better than Davis, even healthy. But thats not a bad thing.

Anyway, class is deep as hell.

I think It will be better than 2009, not 2008.

A healthy 2008 class would give you the best team in the league by far. Very, very deep, and 3+ superstars.

I won't comment on star power, but I think this draft class will have more 10-year players than any other.

well it will be one of the Deepest in recent memory for sure

in terms of Stars, as much "Potential" as any great Draft Class

look at the best Case Comparisons for the Top Talents:

Embiid-Hakeem
Wiggins-Vince Carter
Parker-Melo/Healthy Grant Hill/Paul Pierce
Exum-Penny
Vonleh-Bosh with actual Defense and Rebounding

there is no Garanty that even one of them will reach that ceilings, but in terms of raw Potential this draft is up there

naysayers where underrating this draft alot as the year moved on.. there was a reason most said it was the best class since 2003

i agree that this might be a bit too much... but even if its just the clear second best since 2003,

i am sure with all this talent at least 2 Superstars will emerge out of this group

lets Say, Parker(i really see alot of Paul Pierce and Melo) and Embiid(if he is healthy... even if hes not Hakeem.. Hakeem "light" would still be the best Center in the NBA)

then you have Wiggins,Exum,Vonleh,Randle etc who are equally Talented as the two above but maybe need a bit more to achive this Level

but its clear... this draft is Deep as Hell in terms of All Star Level talent even if its lack a clear Lebron,Durant,Duncan like Megastar

He's played in under 17 and 19 world championships and more recently against a US select team full of college players where he got most of the scouts attention, but yes he is very, very raw.

I have a feeling he may be a bust.

It will be a very deep class, but not great with star power.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Playing 10 minutes a game as a backup SG with no offense run through him, Which was explained to the media by the coach. Im not sure what you want him to do when he's getting no plays run through him and 2-3 shots a game

Junior leagues, yea.. Playing for his NT he is their weak link, he is quite far away from contributing in the NBA (if ever) in my opinion..

Yes, the number one pick in a loaded draft has a best case scenario of being a rich man's Terrence Ross...

The hate is unreal.

You really think Wiggins' upside is a better Terrence Ross? You are comparing an athletic and physical freak, first pick overall, to a 3 and d role player? Why not just call the kid a very rich man's Brian Scalabrine?

Outside of Smart, Embiid, Parker and maybe Wiggins. I got this draft class being mediocre at best.

Some people have said that Wiggins could just be another Rudy Gay.

Sometimes drafts look great before the rookies actually play NBA game then it turns out it sucked and sometimes it's the other way around.

I think we should at least watch these guys play real NBA games before coming to any definitive conclusion.
