Thanks to the lack of avatars and sigs, the last page was the shortest page in recent RealGM history.

So apparently Jonas had a really bad game? Couldn't watch it, but I see a pretty bad statline and an incredibly bad +/-. Was it Jonas playing bad, or did Lithuania do a bad job trying to involve him into offense?

It's been the same thing every game. Jonas +/- is horrible through most games. His defence is non existent. Everyone abuses him. This is why Casey doesn't really like to play Jonas when it matters most. No improvement on defence at all.

There's been three games.

Against Mexico -2
Against Angola +9
Against Australia -15

So one game his plus minus was horrible. His defense has been okay, not non-existent.

He's getting abused on the defensive side most of the time? I guess this was the first game you've watched Lithuania play this year. His man to man defense usually was good and help defense was decent. He's not getting abused on the defensive side at all. Maybe he did in the game against Australia, but in all games I saw him play he was always one of the better defensive players on the court.

Does Lithuania now want to finish third in their group to avoid the USA until the semis. If they finish second they will meet in quarter finals

Jonas was very bad, as were all of our youngsters yesterday. Experience teaches you not to lose your head in such games and it was a great opportunity to learn - non vital game against solid team. We missed Kalnietis oh so much yesterday, it was the kind of game that would've shown his true value to the team. The comeback was nice, Lady Fortune was wearing AUS colors though :)

Anyway, everything is quite ok, I personally don't expect us to medal this year, top 5-8 is realistic.
The important thing is for JV and DMO to get better at handling difficult games.

NOTE: one thing to add about JV's turnovers is that half of them are from atrocious entry passes. Nonetheless he is Mr. Butterfingerz

I don't think it was just the young players. Maciulis and Pocius were dreadful as well. D-Mo never had a chance to redeem himself, either. I thought that was the difference in the game. They had all the momentum, but were playing with a less talented, less athletic group on the floor in the final 5 minutes.

Lithuania isn't doing that cowardly stuff. Some other European countries did that in the past (not going to name them), but not Lithuania. There's no point in trying to avoid good opponents. If you're not good enough to beat them, then you're not worthy of advancing. I think this is pretty much the philosophy of Lithuanian team.

That being said, I think there's a good chance Lithuania finishes 3rd. Without Kalnietis, Slovenia might just be too tough of a task for Lithuanians. Australia really exposed the PG problem, and Slovenia has a backcourt capable of exploiting that issue.

That is correct. LTU never lost to someone on purpose nor will they ever do that.

And PG problem is pretty much a thing that every team in this tournament can and should exploit. :(
Two of our players are completely useless and Renaldas Seibutis has no choice, but to fill in as PG himself and he can't play all the time...

So Australia won vs Mexico and that makes last game vs Slovenia oh so interesting. Win by 9 and you are 1st. Lose or win by 1-4 pts and you are 3d.... which is ok if you want to avoid USA. Win by 5-8 and you are second which would mean USA in quarterfinals....Pretty tough position to be at the end of the close game lol.

I read in another thread that their starting PG is injured. Any updates on that injury?

Collar bone fracture he's done for the tournament. They have unexperienced PGs running the show. LTU isn't meddling this year especially without a PG who can make a simple entry pass without turning it over.

I hope its the last year for brothers Lavrinovic in the NT. They are very good but i want to see what will Kazlauskas do when he doesnt have veterans sitting on the bench and the game turns against his team. He seems to me as a coach who just doesnt trust young players. Playing DMO for only 8mins , wtf???

Can we really trust Jonas to be the star of the Raptors down the road? His development is going to be a little slower than expected unless he takes a huge leap this coming season. But I would be happy with him being a double-double threat at the end of the day. Which means we can't keep saying he is untouchable and that he can be used as a trade piece if the right deal is there.
Looking for a new signature. Currently, still evaluating.

People have projected their hope of improvement on Jonas this summer without Jonas actually having definitively improved. That's my observation.
