I expect Bau and Melky to get lots of rest in the last month. There should be time available for Pompey, Pillar and Gose.

I'd like to see Graveman get a start or two just so I can see for myself how this guy zoomed from Lansing to the bigs in one year.

You know you had a really bad at bat when it would have been better if you struck out.

You know you had a bad game when a scrub like me could sub in and make the same or better impact to the game

A 3-run lead is a 1-run deficit when Dickey pitches

Not this year... They're going to limit his innings the rest of the month.

Reyes is looking noticeably bigger. To turn this into the Raptors board temporarily, it looks like he's gained 10-15 pounds of muscle :)

This team is likely to remain mathematically alive until around the final week or so. Not a chance Bautista or Melky sit until such time.

The Jays are 5.5 games out with four teams to catch. They are pretty much out of it, but they won't rest the starters until they are really out of it. One hot week can get the team within striking distance (it would fit right in with the tease this team has been all season) so I'm sure they won't pack it in until all hope is lost. One more bad week would do it.

Benching Colby for Pillar makes no sense BTW, but I recognize Gibbons has entered the IDGAF stage of this season.

Excellent! EE bat toss is back! He's going to have a huge September.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

You know what's sick, DET is on pace for 88-89 wins as the second WC. At the high point of the season, June 6, the Jays could've gone .500 the rest of the way, 50-50, to get to 88 wins. Now they'd have to finish 19-7 and with so many teams in between 20-6 or 21-5 are far more likely to be the necessary number. This one is cooked, I can't believe anyone would still be arguing otherwise.

In fact, since that day here are the records in the AL:
LAA 51-25 +26
BAL 49-28 +21
KC 46-29 +17
TB 43-33 +10
SEA 43-34 +08
CLE 40-34 +06
OAK 41-35 +06
DET 43-37 +06
NYY 39-36 +03
BOS 33-44 -11
HOU 32-44 -12
TOR 31-43 -12
CHW 31-44 -13
MIN 32-46 -14
TEX 22-54 -32

Will I get a few thrills if they can play hot for a week or two and keep it interesting? Of course I will, but nothing about this team the last 3 months suggests they can put on that kind of a 4 week stretch.
