My guess is the front office already has an idea of what a sign and trade might bring, so they have something to compare any in-season deals to.
Here's my problem with this plan. Rondo with the Cs all year means at least 4-5 more wins, and for what? In this draft, it was the difference between Parker or Smart. Smart or Payton. It matters.
