As the article says a long shot, but hey at least they are trying. They would have a line-up of Miller, Allen, Pierce for PG and the wings. I guess that would be one way to make the front-court seem younger.

League cap rules. The Wizards didn't have cap space, but they were able to exceed the cap to sign Seraphin to his qualifying offer. To pay Allen more than the minimum, the Wiz would need cap space or an exception. They have no cap space, they used their MLE on Pierce and the BAE last year on Maynor.

As I mentioned in the trade thread, I like that they apparently are at least talking with Allen. Can't think of a better person for Beal to spend a year with.

Don't the Wizards still have a portion of the Ariza TPE available? They used the MLE on Pierce, Maynor's TPE on Blair, and a portion of the Ariza TPE on Humphries. They should still have a healthy chunk of that Ariza TPE leftover.

Who cares, he can't replace Ariza so were probably doomed anyways.

OK Dat - point taken... yes, Allen would be terrific - you might even see Beal correcting his shot selection.

This. We have little to no shot of signing him but I like that we have migrated from the viewpoint of "____ would never sign with us so why even try?"

Maybe he wants his kids to go to Sidwell Friends, though the vet min would barely cover relocation costs + tuition. What is it, 1.5 mil for a super-vet like Ray?

Sidwell Friends wouldn't cost him that much.

Yeah they still have the other half of the Ariza TPE. Don't know what it is exactly, but should be around 4 mil.

I am interested in a hot, sensitive boyfriend who shares all my hobbies and a pile of money high enough that I will never have to work again. Unfortunately, I, too, am unlikely to fulfill my interests.

Hmmmm

Maybe we can get a mod to unlock the thread I started Fri Jul 18, 2014.

Ray Allen To Washington Wizards Thread - Lets Get It Done
viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1336402

We could have pimped the RA deal like we did KD that lead to headlines.

Free the Ray Allen to DC thread.

Ray Allen to teach Beal is a match made in heaven

"The team contacted the 39-year-old shooting guard early in the free agent process to gauge his interest in signing"

:nonono: That was about when I started the RA thread.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Allen backing up Beal would be so **** amazing. I'd bust a nut if we got him. Won't happen though. I don't think we're quite good enough to be a title contender for Allen to want to join.
