Re: Seahawks Postgame
WHAT TO DO?
DEFENSE
Switching to 4-3 scheme is ill-conceived. How many 4-3 front 7 players do we have? Yes last year was bad but I blame that more on our all our LBs both In and Out. When Matthews injured thumb – we had nothing – Neal was still learning. Also DL Jolly got hurt and missed last several games.
Daniels & DJones were effective last year as nickel interior rusher – period. They were not effective and not used as base DEs. Thus they were fresh when pass rushing. Now we have them in base as 4-3 DT where they are not ideal stuffing the run against monster Gs much bigger. And their also playing some 3-4 DE which I doubt they’ll ever be exceptional at. So using them on run downs which are not their forte - now they’re gassed come nickel downs.
We got Matthews back, added Peppers and Neal finally is comfortable at LB even reducing his weight to be more mobile. And we change using Neal as DT in 60% of his snaps.
DL
1. keep daniels and djones mainly as nickel interior rushers which I’ve heard is around 65% of the snaps most games. Good balance of use and rest. Neal rotates some.
2. start Pennel at NT in run downs,
3. sign Pickett to rotate at NT in run downs
4. start Boyd as base 3-4 DE
5. resign Jolly to start base 3-4 DE
6. IF Pickett is washed up - Scour FA list for some over-the-hill vet NT. Maybe we can squeeze 1 more year out of him like we did with OT Wilkerson in 96 super-bowl year.
FIX ILB – at least try
1. Cut Brad Jones
2. Scour FA list for some over-the-hill vet ILB. Maybe we can squeeze 1 more year out of him like we did with OT Wilkerson in 96 super-bowl year.
3. Try Lattimore who is Jones backup..
4. Try Barrington who is Hawk’s backup
LET OLB PLAY
1. Don’t get fancy just unleash Matthews and Peppers. Give Neal snaps.
GET REAL in 2ndary
1. Bench Burnett – start Hyde & Dix at S
2. Hayward in nickel / House on dime / burnett rides the pine
OFFENSE
IF Bulaga is good to go then its almost certain our O will still achieve dominance. I would Scour FA list for some over-the-hill vet OT. Maybe we can squeeze 1 more year out of him like we did with OT Wilkerson in 96 super-bowl year.
PERSONNEL
CUT – BJones, Guion, Bradford & Goodson - sign the 2 rookies to PS
SIGN – Vet ILB, Pickett, Jolly, Vet OT
We are always one of the yongest teams in the league. We can afford to sign 4 old experienced guys to WIN NOW if we’re lucky enough to find a couple Wilkersons.

Re: Seahawks Postgame
running into the punter
gave SS a 1st down
and they continued their drive
INT, we didnt complete, in our hands
2 3rd down holding penalties on defense
1 was a sack
1 was a pressured throw away
INT, off Nelsons hands
bad blocking, resulting in Rodgers fumble and safety for SS
if that pic early in the thread is correct
we only had 10 men on the field
result, TD for Ss
we made lots of mistakes
half of those things we can fix
we'll give them a better game in the playoffs

Seattle looked like the far better team irrespective of our miscues. They obliterated us on both lines, and it was only a matter of time before they imposed their will. IMO.

Re: Seahawks Postgame
I have a gif request for anybody with the time and capability. I want to see the play where Seattle had a 3rd and 2 and Wilson through a quick out to Harvin a yard behind the LOS. Hawk is standing about 5 yards away from him when he catches the ball AND HE DOESN'T ******** MOVE A MUSCLE. No attempt whatsoever was made to stop Harvin behind the LOS, or even at least slow him down while help tacklers ran to the ball. It was the most Hawk play I've ever seen in my life, he was so petrified of giving up a big play that he just completely freezes and waits for other tacklers to do his job for him. FFS.

Re: Seahawks Postgame
People say that allot of people are acting like the sky is falling after one loss.
First this is a new season and the Seahawks might not even be the best team. They are a contender going into the season with a top defense but who knows how good they really will be this season.
When the Packers play a top defense they get crushed and Rodgers looks horrible. Giants, 49ers, and Hawks.
This team has got worse every season now since we won the super bowl.
MM and Capers get out coached in almost every game. TT is a bad GM but a good scout.
Same old crap. I am one to give someone else a chance. I would love to see a new HC or even a new GM. It won't happen so I guess it doesn't matter.
TT is so overrated. How long does TT get a pass for?

Free agent TE Colt Lyerla was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants Saturday morning in Washington County (OR).

That's called playing scared. A good defense attacks. That was the opposite of good defense.
I sometimes wonder why our defense doesn't look like the 49ers or Seattle or when NY pushed us around...Like..Damn..How come we cant look like that? Then you watch that play on repeat in a GIF ten times and you realize why we don't look like Seattle's defense.
I was thinking about how much were we in Nickle? I remember the days when we had Woodson, we'd be in Nickle, but Woodson was just as good as a LB in the run game. He'd get tackles for loss, he'd shoot the gap, tackle and wrap up guys. He could sift through traffic and garbage and find his way to the ball. He was excellent in the run game.
I'm wondering if Capers continues that philosophy thinking he can get away with playing Nickle against a team pushing run, but then we are too light and we don't have a woodson like player who can defend the run.
I thought this year the scheme was about personnel not just a scheme and forcing people into roles.
At the same time, if you have **** players, no scheme is going to fix it.
