You can see his body responded to his weight training much better this year then it did last year. I'm guessing that last summer was the first true bulking experience of his life and could explain why he was slower. This summer he's managed to carry some of the bulk he put on this far into the tourney, and his quickness/explosiveness is back. When he goes to the basket hard you can see a burst that really wasn't there last summer and for much of last season.

Next summer and the following season will really show us how big he can get while staying quick for a 5. This year he will be improved, but I still want to see him have one more mass building summer to see how strong he can get before it becomes a liability.

JV is eager to face DeRozan. (This was right after the LTU/TUR game)

But that's his downside.

No thats his backside.

Lowry's upside is mental and psychological.

The first thing I noticed was the guy on the right with the pained expression. He must be a Turkey fan. I also wonder if 14 is a guy or girl, the blonde hair is covering their face.

Hmm, the guy on the right was definitely NOT the first thing I noticed!

Throughout the entire tournament, Valanciunas has been one of the standout players. Heading into the final, he ranks 10th in player efficiency (18.6), 19th in scoring (13.1) and sixth in rebounds (8.4). Valanciunas did a little bit of everything in his nine games at the World Cup.

Entering his third year in the NBA, Valanciunas looks primed for a big 2014-15 season. His potential has been there for all to see over the past two years. The Toronto Raptors' big man should take a major step forward this coming campaign.

For the Raptors to take another step forward in the development, Valanciunas will need to do so as well. Accordingly, the team had him spend time with Hakeem Olajuwon this summer, with the hope being that the Hall of Famer would teach the burgeoning Raptors centre some grace in the post. On the other end, Valanciunas will need to further navigate the intricacies of Dwane Casey’s defensive system — another reason Hayes occasionally ate up some of his minutes in Toronto last year.

14.4 ppg / 8.4 rpg...

... in 25mpg

That would make his FIBA WC PER36 look something like: 21 ppg / 12 rpg.

Can't wait for him to be averaging 15/10 this upcoming NBA season. :)

They have the wrong stats for Jonas, because they're taken before the game against France. Jonas finished with 14.4 PPG (17th), 8.4 RPG (6th), 69.6 FG% (1st), 81 FT% (8th), 19.8 EFF (5th). So yeah, statistically he had a monstrous tournament.

Well, as coach Kazlauskas said, Jonas gave for the team much more than he expected before tournament.

I know it's hard to believe but Jonas consistently shoots 70% when he gets touches. He's done it for years in international tournaments and leagues and he's done it for 10-game stretches on the Raps.

He NEEDS to be taking 15 shots a game for us. If he does I guarantee he will be average 25+ points when you factor in the number of times he will go to the line (easily 8 times a game if he puts up 15 shots).

I know you will all say I'm crazy but I see him making 60% of his shots (9 of 15) and 80+ of his FTs for 25+ pts on the season and league-leading efficiency.

Yes he needs to work on positioning getting the ball etc. but there's nothing like reps to do that. I don't know why people keep ignoring that he consistently puts up GOAT type efficiency numbers when given the ball steadily. Efficiency-wise he was the the best offensive rookie centre in 30 years and yet his shots per game only in creased by like 1 in year 2. they better take a significantly bigger jump in year 3!

I'd love that. But I doubt that's ever going to happen in his career.

Yesterday was the first Lithuania game I saw all summer

Wow.

JVs floor is borderline all-star

I wish I could see the alternate universe where we tank and JV becomes the focal point of our offense
