Re: Drug testing policy
Don't forget Gordon still has a DUI from after the failed sample. That has yet to be adjudicated by the league. Still his 5th strike.

Yea, everyone's so busy looking at his failed test for Marijuana that they're ignoring the DUI completely.

Ahh yeah I forgot about the DUI...would that uphold the year long suspension? Or would it be 4 games like Prater got?

Two Steeler running backs were caught with drugs recently. Is there any possibility the league is changing their rules for the benefit of their beloved Steelers?

Re: Drug testing policy
Yeah it the vote was called off..There was a hang up on some details for the HGH testing appeals process and the league being able to suspend players for DUIs before due process...As of right now it could be delayed 1 week...or 1 year no one knows.

A few things: (1) I have an issue with guys entering the league with strikes already against them. I understand why you might do that with steroids. I don't understand why you would do that with marijuana. Gordon came into the league in the top tier. He's tested 70 times a year in tier 3. (2) Getting a DUI isn't a strike in terms of the league's drug policy. Gordon blew a .081. That's one one thousandth over the limit. Those are usually plead down to a reckless operation. While no one should drive over the limit that's hardly as reckless as what most people think of as drunk driving. (3) Only in the NFL would Gordon's last strike be considered a strike. Those trace levels of marijuana are a negative for most tests, and the fact that samples were contradictory would necessitate a third test or a pass finding in any other circumstances.

Originally as a Browns fan I thought Gordon would be smart with his contract coming up soon. After all the trouble he has gotten into, I've given up on him. I don't think he has much longer in the league at this point.

Re: Drug testing policy
The NFLPA and league agreed to modify the policy, but the league won't approve it until Monday at the earliest due to perceived competitive advantage of letting guys like Welker play this week without warning to the opponent.
Gordon got lowered to 10 games. FWIW that's at least the 9th drug test he's failed since 2011. His 2nd fail at Baylor had levels high enough to indicate he might have just literally gotten baked minutes earlier, got that directly from a coach in Waco.
His DUI goes to court in early November, and as someone else mentioned he's likely to plea it down to a lesser charge. We'll have to see what comes out of the new policy regarding DUI before knowing what happens there. By that time he could fail another drug test...or two.

He failed 2 and refused a 3rd (therefore considered a failure) while in college. Since joining NFL he failed once for a prescription cough medicine prescribed by a physician for strep throat - and - once again in this latest disputed incident. That's five. The .09 DUI would count as #6 if you count it as a substance abuse violation as opposed to a personal conduct issue.
I don't know of any other incidents, but maybe the OP has info I haven't seen.

Scored two touchdowns between the two of them against the Browns as Gordon was suspended a year. Lol they were charged and had possession. (Gordon had a dude in the car with weed, cops apparently bought it. He was pulled over going 74. Lol I go 70 on the same highway everyday and get passed by everyone.
Gordon hasn't failed a test for weed in the NFL before this. Failed a test for prescribed codeine. He entered the league in stage two.
His only real offense is the DUI. The Marijuana test should be discarded due to conflicting samples. But it wasn't for some reason.

Re: Drug testing policy
Based off what I've read he failed 2 at Baylor 1 at Utah..1 in the nfl for codeine...and then the recent DUI in which he didn't have any weed on him the passenger did to my knowledge...so idk where Icness is getting 9 from..maybe he's giving gordon the Colt Lyerla treatment.

Re: Drug testing policy
Nfl has more strict testing policies than airlines for pilots. Isn't it great?
My team has to suffer because of it. I genuinely believe Gordon hasn't smoked since joining the NFL. He has passed more tests than most players have to take in a long career. Them punishing him for what he did in college pretty much set him up to fail.
