Will be remembered as one of my all-time favorite Pistons. Great player and leader. I think he's a hall of fame player, but I'm biased.

I'll miss Chauncey and I wish him a wonderful retirement.

As for Finals MVP, I'll go a step further... Ben Wallace should have won it. He shut down Shaq and it was our defense that won the championship. Chauncey made some incredible buzzer beaters along the way, but Ben Wallace was our most valuable player.

However, Chauncey won it, and I think he's a bubble HOFer. He might not make it first ballot, but I think he might get in eventually.

27 ppg on 63% shooting is "shut down"? Next thing, you're gonna tell me that you should award Finals MVP to Kawhi Leonard for holding LeBron to 28 ppg on 57% shooting.

I'd argue that of all the Pistons, Big Ben matched up least well against his counterpart on the Lakers in the 2004 Finals. Chauncey won Finals MVP because he matched up well against old Payton.

The Pistons won that year because they were able to eliminate contributions from anyone beyond Shaq and Kobe. Between those two they were putting up nearly 50 ppg. But the entire starting lineup only put up another 10-15 ppg.

The Pistons were incredibly balanced. Sure Chauncey and Rip scored 40+ppg but the rest of the starters tossed in another 30+ ppg. That really let the bench come in and focus on defense.

Ben may have "let up" 27ppg from Shaq. But he was the anchor to that defensive scheme. So he was just as responsible for holding every other player on the Lakers outside of their big two to like 5 points a game.

Chauncey deserved his MVP for the finals. But there's no question who the MVP of that team was for the whole season. Ben Wallace was the heart and soul of this team.

How soon we forget. Watch that series again. Payton wasn't an issue at all, neither was Malone. They were old and worn down already. Medvendenko was more of a threat that series.

It's actually unfair. Wallace was the leader of the 04 pistons and the main reason why we went so far in the playoffs. But because he went up against shaq, nobody stopped shaq remember that. This is the reason why I think shaq is better than Kobe. Kobe didn't step up and shaq did. The reason Chauncey won is because of match up reasons. Otherwise, Wallace deserves the award for being our leader and winning the championship.
