Bismack has been in the NBA 3 years (going on 4) and he is old enough to legally drink, he has no upside.

I was thinking that, but wasn't sure. Last thing Spain needs is another big man though.

Yea it would be hard for him to crack that big man rotation....but him at C and Ibaka at PF would be a world of shot-blocking trouble for team USA and everyone else

I'd say it happens once every 2-3 games and half of those times it's usually a pass thrown at Biz's feet.
Real talk: LP is easily as bad about being a broken record about Biz bobbling passes than I am about Al sucking at defense. The problem with Biz is you generally don't notice the good stuff Biz does b/c they don't show up on the stat sheet like altering shots or bone crunching screens that free a guy up for a bucket.
Sorry, but I actually praise Biyombo when its warrented. You've been down on Jefferson since day one.
Lol edit: Setting good screens. This is what its come to with the 7th pick in the 2011 draft. Great screens.
I give up, you win sir.
Yes, I value good team basketball over empty stats.

it's time for him, Christian Eyenga and that kid who committed to SMU, yet later decided to go and play in China, to play in an AfroBasket (I swear that's the official name for the African championship) and qualify for the Olympics or the World Cup. Angola and Senegal are decent, but the Egypt team that played in this year's World Cup.... man, it was a bad team. Some international experience could do him some good. Besides if he's so caught up in running camps back home, the DR Congo national team making it to a large tournament like that would be a positive example to the country's youth.
as for Spain... he's never cracking that team. I can't imagine a European coach, especially the one for Spain's national team, giving PT to such a one-dimensional center. Heck, even Ibaka isn't getting that many minutes for Spain. All of the good European teams have centers who have a three pointer in their arsenal, are very good in the low post and can pass. Biz would strike them as a stiff who's not needed for international competition.

how cool would it have been to have seen biz leading a DR Congo team in the FIBA world cup? has he ever played a game for his national team?

he hasn't. I can imagine that some of the African NBA players don't ever play for their national teams since, as in the example of DR Congo, the team and the infrastructure around it is a mess when the country itself is suffering from a civil war.
Christian Eyenga has played for the team though.

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Inspired by watching so much basketball during the World Cup, I found a series of articles on FIBA Africa by a Denver Nuggets reporter Andrew Feinstein who had gone to the 2011 African Championship along with Masai Ujuri and other African executives with a job in the NBA.
Basically most African NBA players don't participate in these tournaments because of insurance issues. I can imagine that it's one thing to play for Angola, Senegal or Nigeria, especially in the Olympics or the World Cup, it's a much more safer choice. But to play for South Sudan, one of the Congos or whatever poor African country is a whole different thing. Biz would have to rely on the fact that he single-handedly (or recruit the SMU kid and Eyenga) can make the team somewhat competitive (Republic of the Congo, obviously, isn't on the same level as the better teams who have guys with NCAA experience, a few in Europe and perhaps a couple in the NBA) which seems far-fetched, play without any insurance and just be on a team that has not only problems providing facilities to get ready for the tournament, but also provide the players with a daily allowance and jerseys (taking an example from Madagascar, they didn't have jerseys before a tournament that was to be held at their own country, while the players had a per diem of $1.50)

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
perhaps if biz has a good year and gets a decent sized long-term deal he can help support the national team financially for a tournament. although i suspect that helping finance the congo in a hoops tournament is about #752 on his list of things to use his money for back home.
