Chalmers: We All Took To A Back-Seat To LeBron In Finals

Post#1 » by yungsin1 » Mon Sep 15, 2014 1:27 pm

“Yeah, that’s the worst thing, because you never know,” Chalmers said. “Everybody in my ear, talking about ‘We need you, we need you to do this, we need you to do that.’ And then when it comes to the game, I didn’t feel involved. Like, you all talk about how y’all need me, but y’all didn’t put me in position to do anything. In previous years, if I was in that position, I would make sure I would go get the ball, I would put myself in position to score. I felt like this year, we all just took too much of a back seat in the Finals.”

“I didn’t think I’d be back,” Chalmers said. “I didn’t think that at all. I didn’t even think the Heat would want me back, to be honest. That’s how I felt like my playoff performance was, that they didn’t want me back, they wanted to go another direction. So that was in my mind, too, but I was, like, if it happens, it happens.”

I personally didn't want Chalmers back, but he is so I'll continue to root for him as he's on my team. You have to think just one day he'll be less of a bone-head, maybe it'll be this year.

Won't lie, I was hard on Rio for most of the playoffs last season that I didn't care if he didn't come back, but I can't wait to see each guy in the roster play this year motivated and that still includes Rio. Hopefully they all play with something to prove since there will be no more of that coasting crap again. Just pray the team stays healthy

He has no one to blame but himself. He shouldn't have been brought back

I did not want him re-signed but I think there is some truth in his point that a team of talented individuals allowed LeBron to be bigger than the team. True LeBron's talent dictated it and if everyone else was passive he had to take over, but I think it's possible they can still have success playing as a balanced team where everyones talents are appreciated.

That's some unbelievable crap coming out of his mouth.

There should have been ZERO excuse for his pathetic play in the last year's playoffs, NONE. He was crap with the ball, he was crap off the ball, he couldn't do ****. WTF.

I personally believe the biggest blame should be put on Spotard. As a coach, he proved lower than Lebron. He should have set the tone for the team and should always put the ball in the hands of Lebrat. Horrible stuff in the finals...

Chalmers shouldnt even be on this team right now.

I was baffled how the heat signed him.

Well I guess I'm one of the few happy to see Rio back.

I'm hella surprised he got 4 mill a year. He's a vet min pg, imo. Besides spot up 3-pt shooting, he really does nothing well. I get it's only 2 years and it doesn't mess up any of your 2016 plans...but still, he shouldve only got half of that

Well said, 4 mill is WAY to much for rio. NBA is stacked with great/decent pgs that are far superior to chalmers in every way, I don't know what the Heat were thinking getting this guy back.

I feel like it's an excuse at this point

And it's true the whole team took a backseat to Lebron. But whole of last season seemed like a chore for them. Besides some great moments, they looked miserable. Finals came and there was no motivation.

Lol I am surprised Rio is back too. I don't know anyone who was happy to have Rio back. But it happened and he seems motivated, but that doesn't mean much these days.

With all the catering the coaching staff did to LeBron, it's no surprise. If you don't start pushing other players, holding them accountable but also forcing them into more prominent roles, they'll take backseats, it's human nature.

Have to say I don't get either. Not upgrading our PG is the biggest fail after losing LBJ

Worse comes to worse, Chalmers contract is an asset as a filler for a trade. There were slim pickings in regards to the veteran point guard market. Darren Collison and Jameer Nelson were the alternatives. Meh, I'll go with the continuity. The unrestricted free agency pool wasn't too spectacular.
