I can't believe I'm not getting the business over the Westbrook trade. I mean, common. I only did it because I wanted the attention!

Well... Noel has been getting drafted pretty high in my drafts this year. I guess a lot of people are expecting a lot out of him. I'm much more cautious than that with rookies. Really good bigs, unless they're big-time shot blockers and can shoot FTs can have pretty sub-par value. Noel looks to have most everything going for him but probably not FTs and probably not points. Plus there's injury concerns... those STL/BLK/FG% numbers better add up. I wouldn't bet on it. :) I definitely wouldn't have traded Westbrook for that package. :)

I like it. Noel is a big time shot blkr and Westbrook is every bit the injury concern Noel is. Plus you get a good pick in this deep draft.

Are we holding up the draft for east or proceeding without him?

This is a dynasty league? I'm not expecting the trade to be a plus for me this season.

Maybe in a few years... I'll say in 4 years, Noel will be more valuable than Westbrook in fantasy basketball.

I'm talking long-term as well as short-term. Until we see him play, his upside isn't certain. He could be a stud (ala Dwight Howard) and still not even sniff Westbrook's value. Young big men are tough to predict in general but especially tough because of negative values in FB. It's not like Westbrook is THAT much older either. Just sayin' I wouldn't have done it. You're assuming a lot of risk for team that is set to compete well into the future. :)

We're not holding it up for east... BUT, we've always had our rosters inputted so we can see FAs for this draft. So, my concern is those of you who are active and have picks. Thoughts?

I'm ready to draft.

I say we proceed and until east checks in his team are free agents.

I have a question about the second round.

Kohanz picks 10 in round one, shouldn't he pick 24 in round 2?
Insfo picks #5 (until is was traded to stick) in round one, I have his pick in round 2 so shouldn't I have #19.
And #23 should be Alcig's own pick and #27 is from me.

Is FB "Fantasy Basketball"? If so, are you referring to the % cats? Turnovers?

I'm assuming a TON of risk. I'm also shedding *some* risk (Westbrook's potential injury issues), but I won't pretend I'm not taking on more risk overall.

Ask yourself how good would you have to think Noel will be in order to do this deal? Then double it. That's how good I think he'll be. I'm very possibly wrong. But I didn't want to be right and not have him on my team. Because if I'm right, this will be the only chance to acquire him I'll have.

Yes - fantasy basketball. Yes - %'s and TO's. For example, Noel is super-raw and could very well be a liability in FG, FT and TO.

I think his fantasy value is really high right now - like most all rookies. And would be inclined to think his/their value in a few months will drop significantly. Especially in yearly leagues but in dynasty/keepers too. But you're right - you have to get them early, 'cause they're probably not leaving that GM anytime soon if they show flashes of fantasy stardom.

I just don't see it. We'll know a little more in a few months. :)

I had mentioned a little while ago that I felt that those who got unlucky in the lottery shouldn't necessarily be hurt in the 2nd round as well. Nobody debated this, and since the 2nd round is usually half-skipped over, just went ahead and did the 2nd-round draft order according to regular season standings.

I'm open to changing it back if it's important enough that you and a few others think it warrants a league vote.

Check out how many rookies I've drafted in my time over in FFL. Almost none. I don't overvalue rookies. If I'm overvalueing, it's specific to Noel and my mancrush on him.

Btw, I think his % cats are going to be fine. And yes I realize that would be a change for him.

I'm good if you start/continue it now.

I'm going to wait a touch longer for east just to make my life easier. If he doesn't show up, we'll consider temp or permanent replacement. Feel free to pick but you're not on the clock yet.
