This move allows the Suns two #1 picks plus retire a legend. Sacre is young and could help off the bench. Removing the lottery protection guarantees another pick. Bledsoe would increase the defense at the point of attack and supercharge the young legs on fastbreaks. Lin could play some shooting guard with Kobe at the smallforward. Change the dynamic....Lakers could be a very dangerous team with Bledsoe pushing the ball.
Lakers do not need a player like Bledsoe who insists on being overpaid. That sort of thing never helps a franchise.

The answer is still Bledsoe. The Lakers need to steo up right here and Sign and trade for Bledsoe now. Why do you think the Wolves are ready to offer a max contract? Bledsoe controls the tempo on offense and is very effective going to the rim. Combine his speed with young athletic legs and you have showtime. Defense at the point is crucial to disrupting a offense. The Wolves are stepping up , Please Mr Kupchuk. find a way.

The Wolves are NOT stepping up. They're just offering crap contracts in trade, probably more of a due diligence thing or artificial buzz that Bledsoe's agents are trying to generate. And Woj has already responded that the Suns have zero interest in the purported Wolves offer. I'd love to be able to trade crap contracts for Kevin Durant or Lebron, too, but it ain't happening, and it's not called stepping up if I'm offering Nash and Sacre for Kevin Durant or even for Wiggins. I'd get laughed at just like the Suns are laughing at the Wolves offer.
And the latest from Woj is that the Suns and Bledsoe have made progress and are closing in on a deal of bumping their 4yrs/48M offer into the 50M range. Just like the Suns insider predicted. It's all kabuki theater. The end game was set weeks ago. Bledsoe will sign with the Suns for about the same amount that he would make if he took the QO and then the first 3 yrs of a max contract. Thus, taking the QO won't pay him any more money in the next 4yrs.
No one is trading good assets for the right to pay Bledsoe the max. Not the Wolves, and not the Lakers. And the Suns have zero interest in taking back crap and fillers because there is little risk of Bledsoe taking the QO. The Suns are just going to offer him the same money he would make if he took the QO, a very slight bump from the $48M he turned down, not the max that he wants. The $50M number is even in line with the calculations I laid out in the previous post in this thread. The end game was set weeks ago, it's just posturing by both sides on the way to getting there.

Re: 2014 Lakers Trade Ideas thread | The Resurrection!
Definitely need to investigate a Harrison Barnes trade in the near future. I like Wes' game off the bench as he's allowed to run more often. Having two athletic wing defenders at the 3 would be gold. Then you have Wesley Johnson as the small-ball PF to face certain teams. I'm thinking the Houston 1st or Ryan Kelly+2nd to get him.
I like his off-ball game and he'd give the starting lineup another offensive threat off of screens and he gives you a post-up player if teams switch larger defenders on Kobe. We've seen over the past few seasons that you have to have a number of wings that can knock down the 3 and stroke it from deep. Having two guys like that in any given playoff series would be a big help.

gsw wouldn't take either offer.

If Kelly was a proven asset that could come off the bench, then I could see the Warriors biting on that trade. However, he's a scrub, a current injured scrub with no value. The 1st from Houston would be nice but I don't think the Warriors are so much in developing in the future when their future is now with plenty of young talent already.
Another scorer off the bench, the Lakers could have gotten Beasley. Beasley made have his negatives, but that's something he has proven he could do is score points. It's a shame that Beasley couldn't prove anything to the Lakers when he had the chance. Must have been some character flaw. Point proven with the Griz letting him go and Beasley is off to China.
Laker's focus isn't so much on scoring. They have plenty of people on the roster that can do it. They need solid defenders that can run.
If you want someone who can knock down the 3, then you develop and wait for Ryan Kelly until someone else can come along.
If anything, I package anyone with Sacre to the Warriors on any deal.

Re: 2014 Lakers Trade Ideas thread | The Resurrection!
I remember reading in wiretap that Atlanta are shopping Horford around the league. Even if it is not true, Atlanta have the tendency to tank in order to get out of the treadmill. If it happens Horford seems like a more realistic trade target for the Lakers compared to players like Demarcus. Horford for a bag of peanuts would be amazing and it isn't like Lakers haven't done it before

Yeah I think a Horford-Randle-Davis frontline would be pretty neat going forward.

Which Hibbert would we be getting?
Hopefully we can dump Boozer off to someone at the trade deadline.

Boozer can't be traded, and the proposed trade is for Roy Hibbert and Donald Sloan.

Re: 2014 Lakers Trade Ideas thread | The Resurrection!
I like Jeff Green at SF for this L.A. team for the following reasons:
- He plays well as a complimentary piece/shooter (4th/5th option)
- He's huge at 6-9/230 and any time a team dares to cross match and try to prevent Kobe's post-ups Green will easily post up and hurt the opposing team down low. Kobe would end up facing Harden and Reddick instead of Barnes and Ariza type players in the post. This would be huge for Kobe's last two years.
- He can cover his position defensively
- He can play well in transition
- He's not going to be expensive to trade for (Nash expiring)

They're not accepting any package that doesn't include Julius Randle in it, so you can put the pipe dream away.

There goes Hibbert looking like he can carry the Pacers. Doubt they move him, but he is my favorite target at the moment.
