Re: Offseason Thread 6: The Not So Mexican Stand-off Continu
When all is said and done our best solution is for Bledsoe to take the 4 and $48 million deal on the table. I would even consider 4 and $63 Million. Any deal cannot have a no trade clause attached or any restrictions on where we might trade him down the road. Hopefully everything works out and he becomes an All Star, we go to the playoffs, he finds out he loves Phoenix and ultimately win a championship. If it doesn't then we still have a valuable asset to move in a trade down the road. All the current suggested trades really make no sense.
When you take the emotion out of the equation taking the Qualifying offer is not in the best interest of either party.
We have not done anything stupid up to this point. Making a dumb sign and trade would be stupid.

I don't care if we lose Bledsoe for nothing because we only traded Jared Dudley to get him. The same Jared Dudley that the Clippers had to give up a 1st round pick just to get rid of a year later. What I do not want is to see the Suns take on bad contracts. If the Suns took on Smith and Jennings, like some posters have suggested, I would have to find a new team to watch.

People keep mentioning the "Suns are using RFA against me" line as fuel for their anger... but are taking it completely out of context. Have the people who are so worked up over that quote actually heard the ENTIRE thing? I doubt it.
Ooooh, what a bastard! He made a statement of fact, that yes, the Suns are using their leverage of restricted free agency... and then he went on to say "I understand that", because he (unlike the people who have decided to hate him for no reason) is aware that this is a business.
"First off, I'm going to let my agent handle it," Bledsoe said [of the contract negotiations] while attending a "Ball Up" streetball tournament in Birmingham. "I can understand the Phoenix Suns are using restricted free agency against me. But I understand that."

The context doesn't help. The words "against me" are powerful. The implication is that the Suns are doing something wrong or illegal or consipratorial or are persecuting him or something.

I'd prefer Henson over Dieng 10 out 10 times.
Way to show your ignorance. Dieng is a very good athelte for a center and a way better prospect than Henson in every way.

Great. I would prefer a three year deal, with some unguaranteed money in the last year...But it is OK

The value of asset A is not based on the value of the asset B you traded for him. I don't understand this logic. It's based solely on how asset A preformed last year. The trade to acquire Eric is inconsequential now.

^ I should have worded that differently. I'm just saying that its not like the Suns gave up a ton of assets to get Bledsoe in the first place, so if he takes the qualifying offer and walks, we aren't really losing out as bad as it may seem. I don't want the Suns to be so desperate to get "something" for him that they end up with mediocre players that hurt the long term vision for the team.

Dieng is agile, good instincts, soft touch around the rim, and not a showboat.
I'd do Dieng, and either Thad Young or Bennet, draft pick restriction removal, and budinger for bledsoe, goodwin and Randolph
Goran/Thomas/Ennis
Green/Budinger/Zoran
Tucker/Morris/Warren
Young/Morris/Tolliver
Plumlee/Dieng/Len

Re: Offseason Thread 6: The Not So Mexican Stand-off Continu
If the report about Zoran Dragic is true, one of the guards has to be gone, most likely Bledsoe. I personally hope it is not Goodwin or Green. I think Goodwin has so much potential and Green was awesome last year. I really want to see what Green can do as the starter for the team and what Goodwin can do as the backup. The Suns also need to add a large chuck of salary so they can be at the salary floor which is nearly 57 million. Right now they are only at about 44 million. Signing Bledsoe for that difference is the obvious thing to do but it sounds like it will not happen. Assuming they sign Zoran in the next week, I imagine Bledsoe will be signed and traded or sign the qualifying offer and ride the bench.

I bet the reason we are giving him 2 years is so the first year we can sort out the Bledsoe situation. The second year we then get to see what he's all about.... And that's also the in-between year to re-sign Goran.

Or it could mean that he has no idea what is going on other than what his agent tells him, and he understands that the Suns are using FA against him, because that is what his agent told him. He never says he understands it is a business, for if he did, he would have just said," That is just part of being a restricted FA." You are trying to add context that, at this point, is unknown.

Whatever... its pretty clear he is saying he understands the Suns perspective.
And it is a business. The utter hate he is getting for being a free agent during the free agent period is laughable.
A few posts back "Sunsbum" showed just how idiotic fans truly can be (with a post that I would think was hilariously sarcastic had I not read his other posts on the topic) when they take their imagined slights too far.

Yeah silly me, I come from a planet where we typically don't call people scumbags without good reason. I guess the rules differ here.
