Yep - really strange. It is like that if you lost the $1,000,000 you won after you bought a $1 lottery ticket, you only lost $1.

Hopefully we learned a lesson when Amare left town for nothing in return except for a bunch of garbage. I think Ryan understands that Bledsoe is an asset and a very good one. We cannot let him go for nothing in return. Coro's column on the subject puts it all in perspective.

Amare was an UFA, and we got a large TPE and a second round pick instead of having a terrible contract. It was the right choice.

Since we have not made the playoffs since he left town, how has that worked out for us? What exactly did that TPE and 2nd round pick do for us? What legit free agent have with signed after Amare left that anyone expects to make an All Star team any time soon? Who is our power forward?

Even with his poor health and poor play I doubt that our record would have been any worse than it has been if he we would have matched the Knicks offer. The garbage that we brought in from other teams, via free agency, to replace him did not work out at all. The talent we do have has been acquired by trades and the draft.

Everyone raves about what a great move Sarver made not to match, was it really that great?

If we let Bledsoe go for nothing in return I expect we will be set back in a similar fashion.

Players like Amare and Bledsoe do not grow on trees, the smart franchises find a way to keep those kind of guys around or trade them for legit replacements on their way out the door.

If Bledsoe signs the QO and leaves town next summer, what year will we be in the playoffs again?

The Western conference does not seem to be getting any weaker.

What gets me about Amare is that everyone raves about how smart Sarver was. Yeah I am so happy that a Billionaire saved a couple of bucks while breaking up a team that went to the WCF. He saved some money and the fans have not watched a Phoenix Suns playoff game since.

I expect he win spin it in his favor, if Bledsoe leaves the team as well. Just like he did the Amare departure.

Fans rejoice

Its easy.... there are already plans to deal Bledsoap if he does not take the offer....and all indications say he will not. You really think Babby and McDo have not anticipated everything that is going on. I would wager there is no way Bledsoap is a Sun if he signs the QO.

Checkers (Paul) meet Chess (Babby)

And for those who criticize those who have animosity towards EB... it doesn't matter what he said in the one interview/comment he made.... the fact that they (LePaul and co) have completely stonewalled the process speaks volumes.

Does Bledsoe have a brother who plays basketball? Eran? Ercus? Maybe we could sign him...

 Please tell me you were out of your mind drunk when you went off on that tangent.

First off, Amare was uninsurable, and we offered a deal that gave us help in case he came up lame, which he has. Please stop trying to rewrite history.

Next, we didn't trade Amare for garbage, he chose a better deal, and we were able to pull off a sign and trade. And I never said what we did with the TPE was wise, so I have no idea what the heck you are talking about.

I have yet to see someone rave about Sarver's choice, although it is quite clear that the medical staff was spot on, and putting provisions in the contract we did offer (which was only $3 mil less than the one he signed if he stayed healthy).

I can't believe there is actually a debate on whether we did the right thing with Amare, :banghead:

Apologies then. I was thrown off because of some of the inflammatory posts in the past, and that you've also made your opinion on this matter very clear. I hope you can see how the poor medium that is an internet message board cause your sarcasm to elude me. Especially given that my post was about how people are taking this way too personal.

I will blame this misunderstanding on Michael Beasley. **** that guy.

Oh come on... are you serious?

Yes, you are correct, we have not made the playoffs since Amare left. I can see an argument that we may have made the playoffs in 2011 with Amare here, but following that season Amare's career has (predictably) gone off the rails and we'd currently be in our 3rd year of utter misery with one more year to go. And anyone who has any attachment to Goran should be thrilled Amare was not resigned because there is no way we would have been able to sign Goran as a free agent with Amare's disaster of a contract hanging around our necks. And that is just one sad part of what would likely be a looooooong sad scenario based on the horrible alternate reality of Amare still being a Sun.

I do agree on the 2nd part. Landing Bledsoe was a huge windfall for the competitive aspirations of this team, and barring some absolute coup of a sign and trade his departure will be just as damaging as his arrival was fortunate. If anyone doubts how important he was to the team they need just look up our record when he played and when he didnt.

Is there going to be an Amnesty Clause in the next CBA?

If so, pay Bledsoe what he wants.

If only we knew that the Current CBA wouldve included an Amnesty Clause, Amare would've been resigned. Looking back, I wish we did so we didnt have to go through the Hedo/Childress/Beasley Era... Which was probably the most depressing time ever to be a Suns fan

You still have to pay the salary if you amnesty.

Yeah, I highly doubt Sarver would have flushed $100 million down the toilet just because he knew it wouldn't count against the cap once the new CBA was finalized.

Of all the things Sarver did and did not do, I thought the decision to let Stoudemire walk was unquestionably and resoundingly the right call.

Hard to fathom why we are even debating that.

Assuming we do sign Zoran, how does everyone see this all playing out with our guards?

Dragic is a lock IMO to stay.
Green, barring a great season where he demands 7mil or more, will stay but is more of a SF.

Would Goodwin and/or Ennis be the odd men out or would we wait to see if we re-sign Bledsoe before deciding on their future?

Does anyone know what kind of potential Zoran has?

Zoki's potential has been debated numerous times on this board already. It is difficult to predict how well he'll adapt to the NBA.
He has solid quickness (probably average for an NBA guard) and in recent years became a solid outside shooter. His best qualities are energy and drive. He wants to win, plays for the team not his own stat line, he wants to shut down the guy he's defending, and he always wants to get better. He's a great defender (held Harden to 1/10 fg when Slovenia played against USA in the first half, held Garcia (averaged over 20 in the competition) to 7 pt), gets a lot of offensive rebs for his position, loves to run on the break.
He has problems creating his own shot though, also at least part of his production comes from being athletically superior (which he won't be in the NBA) and he can sometimes make bad decisions on offense.
He has however improved every year so far, just like his older brother. And there is no reason why he wouldn't do so in the future, given decent playing time. He may become a good NBA player. I wouldn't say star, but I could see him having Afflalo (pre 2013-14, he had 18,2 ppg this year :o ) or Ariza like career. And ofc he could also be a bust.

Great....a TEAM has to pay the player the full salary the TEAM owes the player. The salary only comes off of the TEAM's salary cap. Not a very smart business move to sign a player on the off chance you can pay him not to play later.

I think Zoran is the real deal. Not as good as his brother, but a solid back up guard with good basketball skills and sufficent quickness to play big minutes. Hope we sign him. Think he can play the 2 as well so that's a plus.

If your talking about the following seasons to come.
I think this is Geralds Green last year in phx. He will get overpaid in next years market.
With the Bledsoe money still up in the air and with dragic option to become a UFA plus markieff Morris as a RFA.
He's gone but McD has drafted plenty of guards to replace him hopefully one pans out.

If Zoran is really going to be a sun idk how he plays.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

I wonder what Green will get in FA next year. People seem to think he will not make much, and obviously it depends on how he plays this year, but this summer has proven that demand for wings who can shoot is MUCH higher than for point guards, as Hayward and Parsons' contracts have shown. Of course he's quite a bit older, but he's not THAT old.
