Magic number is down to 4.
Could be down to 3 depending on how the Giants finish up today. It's looking like it will be down to 3.
4 or 3...no matter what way you slice it, 2 wins at Chavez against the Giants will seal the NL West.
im amped.

rangers are once again blowing it in september
10 days ago it looked like we had wrapped up the worst record in the league and then we decide to be the best team in baseball for a god damn week winning 7 in a row and 8 of 9. i want that f*ckin #1 pick b/c of houston's f*ck up, we'd drop down to #3 if we dont get it. right now we're a half game behind the dbacks and if we tie for the worst record, they'd get the tie breaker on account of them having a worse record last year

Re: 2014 MLB Regular Season General Thread
Nats magic # to clinch home field through the NLCS is 4.
I'm just waiting for the playoffs to start now though. I don't really even care that much about home field but I guess I'll take it if we get it.
Zimmerman is back too now, went 2/3 with a triple his first game back. Lineup is even better now.

Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

Is it really a big deal though? I seen a lot of #1 MLB draft picks turned out to be busts. The MLB Draft is a lot more difficult to draft than the NBA Draft and NFL Draft in my opinion.

of course it's harder to project than the other 2 sports, but in a season that's been a complete disaster with a historic amount of injuries and fielding a AAA team the last 100 games of the season, it'd be nice to get the #1 pick than the 3rd. if the astros didnt have the 2nd pick, it wouldnt bother me as much, but they do

I felt the same when the Giants faced them recently. They're stacked. I would put money on the Nats over anyone else.

It just has that feel to it like Stanford said and now they have Zimmerman back. Trust me I won't be thrilled if it happens.

Re: 2014 MLB Regular Season General Thread
Guilder Rodriguez has been in the minors for 13 years, played over a thousand games and had over 4000 ab's and tonight he got his 1st hit in a game today. i doubt he'll be on the 40 man roster next year, but it's really cool seeing this type of thing

3.
Maybe we'll phone this series in with the Giants and just sweep the Rockies instead to do it.

He really is, doesn't have any idea how to run a bullpen. Any other decent manager and the Dodgers probably have 95-98 wins this season and run away with the division. How many pitchers did he burn tonight after yesterday was a bullpen game? His entire staff?
