Re: 2014 MLB Regular Season General Thread
Well, it's night and day between the two. The coverage wasn't nearly as knob-slobbery for Chipper. There weren't any ads from massive corporations to mark the event.
What bothers me most about this particular rant is how it's clearly just aimed at the fact that he's pissed that Jeet gets all this attention when his stats aren't mind blowing (or even average in the case of his defense).
He didn't go out of his way to bash Mo when teams gave him gifts and standing ovations. Olbermann just seems bitter for whatever reason.

Well on SportsCenter at the beginning of every series at ___ city they always showed that organization giving Chipper gifts so that is what I was basing mine on. I even remember Jeter gave some nice remarks about Chipper and I always respected him but even more after that.

The guy played for some great Yankee teams. The freaking Yankees. Even if he didn't necessarily earn it, he's historically significant.
Olbermann can suck it.

Season series (moral victory) is on the line tomorrow and Dodger personal pride is on the line.
they should be offended if they don't clinch tomorrow at home, against their annoying rival, with Sandy Koufax on the mound.
edit:

Puig's monster play in the Dodgers loss last night.
can't he just hit the cut off man?

Pirates clinch a playoff spot. They could also still win the division. Would love to see them do it and have the Cards and Giants knock each other out in the Wild Card game.

Re: 2014 MLB Regular Season General Thread
I had a dream last night that the Royals won the World Series. I couldn't really tell who they beat, though.
Since the Yanks aren't in it, I'll probably end up pulling for the O's and the Pirates. I don't dislike any team that is in the postseason this year, but I'd just like for someone other than St. Louis or Detroit to make a deep run.

That reminds me, who would a World Series mean more to: KC or Pittsburgh?

Re: 2014 MLB Regular Season General Thread
Kansas City for sure.
28 years not being in the offs. Pittsburgh had the Steelers and Penguins.
but i really made this post to say that I hope the Cardinals don't blow it...not really trying to see a hot Pitt in the NLDS (even though some of my guys are picking it up with the bats).
a few errors in a Kershaw/Greinke start could lead to a loss in a close game....and going back to that loud stadium 1-1 would be scary.

Pittsburgh. I like McCutchen more than anyone on the Royals.
