$15 mil per year actually isn't that bad (if he can be an all-star or borderline all-star).
The length of the contract is the part of this that might make you nervous - especially since there are already health concerns about him.

No way Rich Paul can get TT a max contract. There, I said it. If he does I'll delete my account but if he doesn't you can delete yours.

Once Minny came in with their trade offer, the Suns had no leverage whatsoever as it was out there that teams were willing to go max if they could. This year they can't. Next year they would. 4/48 wasn't cutting it. Bledsoe could wait and get paid next season.

I think this comes in a little below the max, no?

Hahaha - so tired of this Minny thing being construed as if it matters. "Phoenix is interested in trading for Kevin Durant."

See what I did there? It means nothing. Can't happen. Won't happen.

And this contract is $13m total below the max.

But a team under the cap could offer him the max next summer if he took the QO and that's why Phoenix IMMEDIATELY ran back to the table and increased their offer after said rumors. It mattered because of what teams could do next season when he could have been an UFA.

McDonough learned under Ainge so he has similar methods and outlook. I think he probably wanted to keep all options on the table, and when he got actual offers from other teams my guess he had Rich Paul sit down and either work out a decent deal or a sign and trade. McDonough has done a good job and only in one full year. I think we need to give him some benefit of the doubt.

Poor poor Greg Monroe. The biggest loser of this NBA offseason.

not just his offseason.. one of the bigger losers in modern NBA

I cant remember too many players/agents who have butchered an offseason like this for a young, talented guy

One more knee injury and it's right up there. Obviously you don't wish than on anyone but the Suns are standing on thin ice.

It was a meniscus tear dude. Once it's healed he is no more of a risk than any one else. Those are almost never re-occuring injuries.

That wasn't Bledsoe's first knee operation.

Phoenix could be Bad Ass next year. Especially if the young guys mature nicely.

Dragic is going to demand similar money and I don't see how Phoenix can justify spending $30MM on just those two. Plus they will be paying Thomas around $7MM. I think Dragic gets moved.

I think their initial offer should have been a little higher but both parties played it well, imo. They ended up under the max, which could turn out to be a good deal for them. Whereas, if they started here and Rich Paul stalls they have nowhere to go but the max.

You and I are saying nearly the same thing. I don't actually think it's a bad deal. Bledsoe is a very good young player and I thought their initial offer was somewhat insulting.

Where I'm striking out is at the myriads who said that the Minny offer didn't matter. I (and others) knew that move would push the envelope and FAST. The Suns actually came out a little better than I expected.

Wowza. So they buckled and gave him a year extra and over 20 mil more than the initial offer. There was no game of chess in this case, they just folded badly. Kudos to Rich Paul. No doubt he's a major talent with big potential for even further improvement but risky as hell.

He's good, but I don't think he's a top 10 PG at this stage.

So glad Minny didn't have a chance to give him a big contract. Now wolves can focus on Rubio or an upcoming prospect like Tyus Jones if he doesn't pan out.

I think this ensures that Dragic declines his option and leaves next offseason. The Lakers and Knicks will have cap room, I'm confident one of them will come calling.

I know...I've had that operation too. It is a fluke if it happens to the same knee because it is cartilage not like a muscle that is damaged or weakened.

Well we know that with the TV deal coming that the cap is gonna rise. Its a fact. They probably know more than we know but I think we should all know that there will be a significant cap jump if in fact this mega TV deal is gonna be signed.

In two years if he's healthy this will be a bargain contract. The cap is going up to 80m. If it wasnt for the injury risk he wouldve got the max pretty quick from pho.
