Imon wrote:$15 mil per year actually isn't that bad (if he can be an all-star or borderline all-star).
The length of the contract is the part of this that might make you nervous - especially since there are already health concerns about him.

Exactly is $14 mil per year.
I think he deserves that money in today's NBA. The cap is going up quickly, and he is an All Star talent at 24.

What type of production minimum do we need to see in order for this to be consider a fair contract?

Well, last season's numbers and no major injuries makes it fair. 18/5/5 in 33 minutes on 47/36/77 with amazing defense is very good
.
I still don't get this contract. How did Curry get 11 when he was deserving of max because of injuries, and Bledsoe, who doesn't deserve the max (showed way less than Curry at the time) and also has injuries, gets 14.

So does this mean Dragic can be stolen away by another team? Would that team need to offer Dragic the max for that to possibly happen?

People scoffed at me when I said the Suns were going to resign Bledsoe closer to the max than their original offer. I think that Bledsoe's side and the Suns were playing contract chicken, and the Suns were going to cave first. Just had a hunch.

Healthy Bledsoe is an excellent player (probably not a max one though). The problem is that he's hurt pretty often.

I'm kind of excited to watch Suns games though. All that athleticism and guard play will be fun to watch.

Yep, A LOT of folks on here who shall remain nameless were calling Bledsoe and Paul stupid for turning down 4/48.

See who is stupid now.

Curry is getting robbed, and it was a different market. He's a terrible reference to use. How are Hayward and Parsons making 4 million more than Curry? How is Channing Frye making 3 million less?

Seems Phx was waiting to see if anyone would actually offer Bledsoe a max type deal.

Minny apparently paved the way.

When we're talking about a max contract, the main stat I'd be interested in is Wins.

Random, but looked it up using ASPM/VORP, and his estimated value last season was 8.8 mil.

since the beginning, Sarver has said he is willing to 14 mil a year, the only reason it took this long was because we could not get Bledsoe's camp to sit down with Suns FO.

So, does this mean they're going to try to trade Dragic and just stick with Bledsoe? Or are they going to invest $40 + mil a year on point guards starting next year?
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Because these contracts aren't signed in a vacuum. Curry didn't completely blow up til after the contract but more importantly - his deal and Rondo's deal should make any PG hesitate before signing long term. After seeing how much money Curry lost, would you be in a rush to lock yourself in to a deal?

Then you must like Bledsoe because he was the MAN last year before the injury. Some people look at his numbers and forget that he was playing all pro level ball for the first part of the season. He put up multiple last second game winners and was definitely the go to guy ahead of Dragic early on.

What are Phoenix doing?

You just gave Isiah Thomas 7m a year. Dragic will need an extension soon.

He has to be on the block as soon as possible.

If the Warriors can sign Klay Thompson to a contract extension at that price, it would be great! Even though it's a little bit more money for Klay Thompson (I think he's worth 4 years at $48 mil), $14 mil per year for the next 5 years instead of paying him $16 mil to $18 mil per year for the next 5 years would be a good contract for the Warriors.
