So Coach Trestman has been widely and rightfully commended for bringing the Chicago Bears offense into the 21st century. His coaching has done wonders for that side of the ball, and I compliment him for that.
That said, there's one thing that is really, really starting to infuriate me about Trestman regarding the offense: the fact that he practically never utilizes a no-huddle and quick tempo offense. It seems like the vast majority of the league uses up-tempo offense at least on occasion. Some use it quite extensively, and many of those teams have top offenses to boot. Yet for some reason, the Bears practically never go no-huddle, unless time is running out.
Why the hell not? Perhaps last year Trestman thought it would be too much to ask of his team to learn a new system while also incorporating up-tempo play calling. But this is year two; players should be more than ready to speed their games up.
Every time I see another team going up-tempo now, I get pissed off. On MNF, both the Colts and Eagles went no-huddle consistently. And this consistently pissed me off. Am I making too big a deal of this? Or do you agree?
--------
Quick unrelated note: IMO, Willie Young is our best defensive player and may become a break out star this year. Had he played more snaps in Week 1 against the Bills, I think the Bears win that one.

Re: Up Tempo Offense
One thing that annoyed my about the Niners game in regards to the offense is that they had to burn a timeout getting a play call in. I mean, what the hell is that about? I had flash backs of Mike Tice again.

Our defense is so bad that we need to give them as much rest as possible. Also going up tempo when your 2 best WR are injured is not a smart move.

That's a good point about our defense.

Good point regarding the WRs. But I doubt we go up tempo once they get healthy.

Re: Up Tempo Offense
Bears are banged up so you can't/shouldnt put any additional stress on those WR's injuries unless it's absolutely necessary.

Re: Up Tempo Offense
Fuller and Young are playing the best Defense on the team. Kudos to Fuller, stepping up big time!
