Zards sign Vander Blue to camp roster
Some posters have been disappointed that the Zards haven't added a young guy that they can develop. Well, Blue is one of those hard-nosed, tough Marquette guys in the mold of fellow Marquette players Jae Crowder and Jimmy Butler.

Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

You have basically the same percentage chance of making the Wiz roster that Blue does. And by "you" I mean whoever reads this post. He was a bad offensive player in college, and last I checked, the competition is better in the NBA than it is in college.

That's what they told Garrett Temple when he tried out for the NBA.

Temple did have some positive feedback when he was signed.
Nivek wrote:Temple has been pretty good in the D League. I posted some numbers in another thread. Small sample size, but still -- solid play. Worth a look.
That guy Nivek is an EG apologist though.

Yeah yeah yeah, and if haters like me had discouraged Galileo, we'd all realize the world is indeed flat.
At least Temple can handle the ball some. Blue can't even do that.

He had a really strong NCAA tournament. Definitely worth a look.

Right, and if Copernicus had listened to the doubters, we'd know that the earth is the center of the universe - not the sun - preposterous!
I think Nic actually had a better jump shot than Vander Blue.

The Washington Wizards have one roster spot open and currently have 19 players attending training camp. Washington could use another backup guard and Vander Blue will have a legitimate shot to make the final roster. As I previously stated, Wall and Miller won’t play much in the preseason, so Vander Blue should get a real opportunity to show coach Randy Wittman what he can do on the court.

Can we just get a PG ! Blue is a 2 not a real PG. I mean he's better than nothing I guess. The kings got sessions, Crawford signed in china, but Bo McCalebb is still out there! Made blue has been working on his PG skills. He used to have a not so good A/T % but hey, I hope he makes the team and works his way into some playing time!

It wasn't too surprising when Marquette guard Vander Blue went undrafted in 2013 due to his unfinished game. At 6-foot-5, Blue is a tweener because he lacks the precise ball handling skills required to play point guard, and the reliable perimeter shot necessary to play shooting guard.
Yet, despite his shortcomings, Vander Blue probably deserved to be drafted because of his explosive first step, tenacious defensive attitude, and knack for coming up big in clutch situations.

Not sure if anyone has seen this, I know I've seen people say his offense is lacking in college, but in the d-league he had a 47 point game 10/18 shooting, and just watch this, (not sure if anyone has seen this)

That first step is nasty as ****. Can't wait for preseason. His competition is Temple, who shouldn't be that hard to beat, given his size. We'll see.

Temple plays defense though, and is considered a high-character locker room guy. I'd be surprised if this new dude gets the nod over Temple.

Re: Zards sign Vander Blue to camp roster
On a serious note, I will say this.
After seeing what Vander Blue can do in D-league/College
One has to think that a backcourt combo of
Wall
Blue
would be one of the fastest backcourt in the league with explosive athleticism, speed, and ability to get open
Honestly if Blue developed nicely, I do see a John Wall in him, or a SG version of John Wall which is pretty weird haha
