Exactly.

Drummond is widely considered this team's best player. But, compared against the rest of the league and not just this sad sack of a team, he's really not all that good. Yes, he has unique size and athleticism, but that hasn't translated to much beyond garbage buckets and grabbing his teammates misses.

Love the kid, I'm not crapping on Dre. But, he has a LONG way to go.

SVG is really big on fundamentals which should really help Drummond get there. I expect a big improvement defensively this year since there really isn't any skills he has to develop (like shooting, dribbling, etc.) but it's all mental. if SVG can hammer home the fundamentals and Drummond doesn't miss assignments/make mistakes on defense that alone could have a huge impact on the team. certainly one that would gain his teammates' respect.

He can develop a free throw routine that can at least hit 60% of the time. He can develop either a couple go-to post moves, or a 15 foot jump shot (he could play PF if he developed that).

And, simply understanding defense is a development all to its own. He has a ton of work to do. Natural talents will only take you so far, even if those gifts are truly elite like Dre's.

With the new TV deal Andre should receive one of the largest contracts in NBA history

Anthony davis will get the max of max deals, he'll most likely get an all-nba/all star starter spot for the next two years so he'll qualify for the 'rose exception' and the the pelicans have a ton of cap space into the 2017 season... davis will probably get the biggest contract in nba history if he doesn't get injured or fall off a cliff. he'll get five years and 30% of the nba cap with a $26,700,000 starting salary that increases 5% every year

26,700,000
28,035,000
29,436,750
30,908,588
32,454,017

for a total of: $147,534,355

assuming Drummond doesn't get two all-nba spots he'll be a regular max contract player which the pistons can more than accommodate, especially with the increasing cap.
