come on, you cant take anything smith says on this matter seriously. he creates reasons to stay motivated. its what he does. its what has fueled him for the past 15 years.

i have no dog in this gettleman fight, but who cares if he is a bit of a cold jerk. its not his job to be buddies with the players.

you want to point figures at the panthers problems, keep pointing them at hurney. we have another 2 years to get out of the mess he created. after that, its all on gettleman.

can you elaborate on the gross situation and what you heard?

Actually Gettleman is the face of recruiting and agents and players talk. He has to be at least a functional businessman or the Panthers are screwed in FA. Gettleman is an old grump that has let the game pass him by. This genius said there was not a tackle in the draft where they picked better than what they had. There are high school tackles better than what they have. Being a cold jerk will kill the recruiting which will mean we have to overpay for players which lands us where we are now. Hurney can be blamed some but also all our best players were his. Only KK, Star and Benjamin are truly above average players that Gettleman has brought in. Gettleman lacks social skills he is best served hidden in a back room giving advice and not out front dealing with people.

He screwed up the Smith situation and at this point there is nobody to believe but Smith. He is the only one man enough to attach his name to what he has said. Gettleman likes to leak false reports about things like requesting a release when he sees he has screwed things up. He is trying to cover himself for making a personnel move for personal reasons. Smith said at the time it was happening he was still waiting to talk to Gettleman in an appearance on the radio. Do you honestly think he was trying to set up this before he was even released?

The guys on the radio were talking about how Gross had said prior to last season he thought he had a few more left in him. Then his attitude had changed, in terms of enjoying being here, after having dealt with Gettleman at the beginning of the season. It is believed at least partially by them that Gettleman being so cold made it an unpleasant place to be so he decided it was not worth the work to stay. If you listen to players they love Richardson and speak well of Rivera but none of them ever say anything positive about Gettleman. Hurney was not a good GM but guys wanted to player here because of the positive thing they heard. Now the only way to get a player will be to out spend other teams and from what I understand from an agent I know sometimes it takes millions to make playing somewhere negative more appealing than somewhere positive.

It is tough for me. I have family ties to Gamecock football but I have always hated Spurrier.

I still can't believe they were ranked at the start of the season, probably not even in top 40 now

Have not replenished the DL at close to the rate of loss.

True. They have looked rough all over. Tackling is a pain to watch right now. A number VT drives should have stalled if not for YAC by RBs.

Hopefully this is a sign that the coaching staff has finally figured out how to adjust to what they were given to work with.

Those second half adjustments looked solid.

Its funny that they run the no huddle for the first time in the Shula era (that I can remember) and they immediately get two touchdown drives out of it....

I still wouldn't put much faith in our team going forward. Cam looks great as always but the O-line continues to be horrid and we still can't stop the run when we know they are going to run it.

Our only saving grace is that the rest of the division stinks. 8-8 might win it. The Falcons have one of the all time worst defensive lines and the Saints look pretty lifeless on both sides of the ball.

We need to change our philosophy going forward. On offense we need to look to score as quickly or in any way possible like the Colts. Not be conservative and try for 11 minute drives. Or defense is ok enough if we can build a lead, but it will get destroyed if the other team can do whatever it wants on offense.
