I think Temple's second year is partially a manifestation of the Wizards' recent anti-knucklehead mindset. If you follow him on Twitter, you'll note a pretty grounded dude.

I assume the thinking is: he's hardworking, good teammate, not a moron, knows the system. The 13th man on the roster is only gonna play spot minutes anyway and be compensated at the minimum (albeit, a rookie minimum would be marginally cheaper than Temple). Anyway, no-hassle, no muss, don't have to put an iota of thought or worry into that slot until it expires (in time for a run at KD)....why not.

So can we get a little more out of Temple ?

After signing with them last year, the hopes where that with his first full year contract that he would settle in. Being effective off the bench in limited minutes is a tough thing to do for guards. I think its a little easier if your role is rebounding and defense.

So here is a ray of hope. Doom and Beal do 3 point shooting contests after practice and Doom has been winning his share.

If he could add a reliable 3 ball to his defense, that would go a long way. He is likely to be used as a SG more then PG this year since Wall and Miller should have that handled.

The catch and shoot 3 ball is a great shot to master off the bench. Not a lot of warming up you need to do to knock that down if you know how to shoot it.

Either way, its looking like he is the 3rd option at both PG and SG so I doubt we see much of him unless Glen isn't getting it done. Maybe he gets some post minutes at PG is Miller needs a day off.

Either way, he does seem to be a good locker room guy. He is helping Blair and Hump out with knowing where to be and he is best friends with Beal, Wall and Rice. Seems like a good guy to have around them since he is 28. Kind of big brother type.

Isn't he still injured with hamstring?

Yeah I do think we can get more out of Temple, he knows the system and very comfortable with it. Wittman called him multi purpose guy 1,2,3 position I agree with that. Him shooting threes and beating Beal is a good thing. Never really saw how is Offense game looks but his Defense is always a staple you can rely on. I can see some games where plays backup PG instead of Miller because of his age. Running PG plays and Offense needs to improve if those two happen Miller can retire early.

He's an 11th-12th man type. The main thing you need is either be a raw prospect who is working hard or a marginal NBA player who is always ready without needing consistent minutes. Either way, the key is that the bottom of the bench guy is someone who puts in full effort at practice, is ready if called on for limited minutes, and never quits. Temple seems to be that kind of guy from what I've seen.
