I didnt like what Lou provided!!!!
Dont get me wrong Lou Williams is the biggest upgrade this offseason HOWEVER offensively hes playing 1 on 1 basketball. And thats not good especially since he doesnt drive to the basket and rather settlle for long jumpers. That kind of ball doesnt win games guys .We all know it, last year improvement came from playing TEAM basketball and sharing the ball just like spurs.
The only way we could benefit from his offensive skills is to have him play 1 on 1 on specific plays and/or better matchups. But as a regular second unit leader HE HAS TO CHANGE THAT AND PLAY TEAM BALL. As a pure scorer the ball will find him! He could end up being a cancer to our team just like Rudy did!!!!!!!! Need to adjust NOW boy cuz you re an amazing player!

Re: I didnt like what Lou provided!!!!
He just started playing w the team so I'm sure the 'team' part of it will come through more as he gets comfortable. I also think he's brough in to score, the fact he can create his own shot in 1v1 situations is a good thing as we have plenty of spot-up shooters that he'll be able to kick out to if he has a bad look.
It's also only our first ore-season game. I would keep the hand off the panic button until at least 10 games into the regular season.

I loved what Lou provided. It's his first game with the team and he's still trying to mesh in with the offense. Our bench provided great variety in offense IMO as we weren't completely relying on the PnR. We actually have someone who can come off the bench and score without always needing PnR to get the offense going.

Agree, let's hope after couple of games he learns to play within a team system, once he knows his teammates.

Re: I didnt like what Lou provided!!!!
What he did is the reason he's in the league. When he gets it going he can be hard to stop. Our second unit can't score at times and so it helps to bring someone in who can score at will.
Now with that said, will there be games where he chucks too much and kills us? Definitely, but I think there's more good than bad with him. It will be a sign of Casey's maturity as a coach to recognize when it isn't happening for Lou and pull him early.

I said this months ago when he was acquired, but any fan watching this team should expect an Alan Anderson-type of performance whenever Lou enters the court. He's going to shoot ... and then shoot ... and then shoot some more. That's his job. That's his role. Expect anything else and you'll be disappointed.
As for yesterday, he did just fine... and had 3 steals to boot.

I like Lou Will's game..he's a mix between Mike James and Alan Anderson..someone you'd want to take over the game coming off the bench.
Masai's to do list

career 18ppg per 36min scorer and this guy never starts...huge plus for us coming off bench in a long season, and casey loves subbing out entire starting unit and leaving our 2nd unit in an offensive disaster for some reason
and in our first glimpse of him, we were down 7 in 4th...he pretty much won last nights game for us, without his shot going in, thats impressive

We needed 6th man scoring badly, and we got it. He also gives us another closing option next to DeMar, Lowry. God knows we could've used him vs BKN.
If people make entire season projections based on preseason about a guys outlook other than their body type and some moves they added, then you're probably new to watching basketball.
Let me tell you, Michael Bradley averaged some monster preseason numbers, where is he now?

1 pre-season game in and we're already calling out Lou Williams? A guy who's like 8th on depth chart and specifically acquired to score off the bench........interesting

We need a guy that can create for himself on our team. So i'm fine with him playing 1 on 1 ball. As long as it doesn't get to the point of ruinng the teams flow it's all good.

I think that's pretty much spot on. You want him to either keep a lead the starters built or haul the team back into the game. If the worst he can do is trade baskets with the other team while the Raps have a lead, he's absolutely done his job, which is to give the starters back the lead they created for the reserves.

I also noticed that Lou does not defend 5's well. And he didn't hit any four point shots either.

OP, dont worry, this board will turn on him a couple games in. He's eactly how you described and most likely always will be.
90% of the posters defending him right now are gonna turn on him.
